Having potentially a worse transfer window than one under Roland takes some doing.

We need a lot of players, and only have 3 weeks to get them in.
When did Roland spend 800,000 ?
Igor cost double that you clown.

Just spoke to my sauce again, he said the 3 Defos from today have been delayed til tomorrow as there is now a fourth and they’ll all be announced early doors, 5pm ish.

Let's hope they're as good as Jermaine and don't get tapped up by west ham

    What about Gudmundsson?
Free transfer from AZ I believe
As is oft said on here, free transfers of quality players are hardly ever free.

Pete the Pole was 800k, Igor close to  2m, for starters. he spent but wasted most of it.

Agree. Does just go to show tho you don't always have to spend transfer fees to get quality

Of the 4 missing Watson is past it and Schwarz looks very dodgy. Even more of a problem is that neither our midfield or forward line looks up to it. So we don't just need more bodies, we need better quality bodies in 4 or 5 positions than the ones we have.
Agreed, in reality we're missing 2 first teamers in Purrington and Gilbey. Watson left his legs in Nottingham, it's the equivalent of a once great player finishing in Qatar or Australia for a final payday

Newport had a 42 year old left winger playing today in their win against Ipswich. Maybe worth a look.

He shouldn’t be anywhere near it! Neither should Clayden but this is where we are right now, and it’s terrifying!

Was genuinely excited to see some of the younger players get a crack tonight but I’ve left massively concerned and trying not to have a knee jerk reaction.

Let’s hope there’s some activity over the next 10 days otherwise I can feel the pressure canister for many fans reaching its limit.

As in I was disappointed with his post game interview. Him suggesting that there was lots of positives is kind of insulting. I was excited to see some of the younger talent but it was the worst I’ve seen us play for a long time.

Adkins seems to have a good reputation all round ... except at Sheffield United.

I asked my mate who supports the Blades:

"What pissed us off was his excessive positivity.  We lost 0-4 at home to Northampton ... yes, fucking Northampton ... and Adkins still found some positives."

Probably generous to put this in the Rumours section but did ask NA tonight about transfers and the line is in here

I've said it so many times and I'll say it again, the likes of Clayden, Ghandour, Barker, Elewere and Roddy are nowhere near good enough to be squad players, not yet.

People who point to other youngsters who stepped up like Doughty, Aribo, Lookman, Shelvey, Gomez, Konsa, Cousins etc. miss the point. They were all earmarked in the youth squads, and when they played mens football they stood out, even against senior pros. Nothing against the lads we have in the academy right now, but none of them stand out in men's football, and if they do it's for the wrong reasons.

    We need:

    McGillivray, New GK
    Matthews, Gunter
    Inniss, New RCB
    Famewo, Pearce
    New LB, Purrington
    Dobson, Watson
    Gilbey, Clare
    New CAM, Morgan
    Jaiyesimi, New RW
    New LW, Washington
    Stockley, Davidson
    New ST, Schwartz

With JFC a bit of a wildcard as we don't know when he'll be back

That is not the case SG is head man in the recruitment set up … and SG has said many times his recruitment team are working hard behind the scenes….

In a weird situation because whilst I believe this to be true, you're the one saying it so I have to think it's actually not.

     Last paragraph needs rewording.
So Gilbey out for a few more weeks and Schwartz playing in an under 23 game rather than Cup game with under 23s?

It's painfully clear that the current squad is nowhere good enough to challenge for promotion ... either automatic or via the play-offs.

Yes, we have some time to improve the squad, but we've left ourselves a lot to do.

Even with what we have, we look like a hoofball team aiming for Stockley's head.

OK, so that's Plan A.  There is no apparent Plan B.

Is the honeymoon over for Sandgaard?   Yes, he has saved the Club.  But he has shot himself in the foot with the fine words about reaching the Premier League in five years.

If we believe what we read, we also committed to a £500k per year rental agreement with Duchatelet for the next 15 years.  Nice.  And someone else with have to deal with the consequences when that agreement comes to an end.

No significant investment in what was going to be a Summer of Love where we built a squad to "blow it out of this division."

Sandgaard seems to be a nice guy, with honourable intent.  But I sense that the cost of his dreams is now dawning upon him ... and he's coming up short.

Football is not a place to make money, Thomas.  In fact, the opposite.

If you want into this, you have to do better.

    To play devil's advocate
Ipswich are throwing money about and bought a lot but not winning either
Lincoln proved last season that you can compete in this league without spending too much. Tom may be saving his money for until we get to the Championship. Then he spunkz it all and gambles.
That's the feeling I get from the guy.

Fair comment. 1 shot on target in 2 games. 0 goals. It's awful. I don't blame someone doing that.

We aint getting anywhere near the Championship without significant investment.

Our academy's best prospects have been taken year on year and we are left with the lesser prospects. Our professional squad lacks any stand out players.

We have signed 2 league 1 cast offs in midfield who may improve. Stockley is a good signing but needs to play in a 2. He doesn't score enough to play up top on his own.

Our 20/21/22 year old players aren't good enough.

It is a term to state how much investment we need in this squad of players.  I dont think for a second we should be paying lads 10k a week in this league or spending fortunes but we need significant investment in the playing squad. We aren't close to having a competitive squad so it's significant.

We have signed 2 league 1 cast offs in midfield who may improve. Stockley is a good signing but needs to play in a 2. He doesn't score enough to play up top on his own.

Our 20/21/22 year old players aren't good enough.
Significant investment is a phrase I'm not comfortable with. It seems to be an excuse to pressure owners to spend to keep up with others.
Or to turn an inadequate squad into a competitive one.
