Twitter is now full of people demanding the u23s start on Saturday, after the same people were moaning we had too many u23s in the squad 🤷‍♂️

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WANT BUT I WANT IT NOW
I'M AFRAID THIS IS GOING TO BE AN UNDERSTANDABLE MISTAKE

Good to see Pearce guiding the youngsters, what they need.

Says a lot about Jason as well as not too proud to play for the U23s

    A career in coaching beckons.

Barnsley OS seems to have forgotten the game took place.

Even deleted their half time tweet.

Consigned to the memory dustbin, can’t blame them really 😉.

I suspect this result chimes rather nicely with TS' actual strategy for CAFC. It isn't a strategy that'll see us storm to promotion, and it may require a lot of patience, but 'grow your own' is the message I'm getting loud and clear

Was Jason Pearce the midfield playmaker today, using his skill and vision to create 7 goals?

At a massive financial hit every season?

Yes in the championship, suicide in league 1.

ah well Ronnie must be in the 1st team squad for Saturday
Well if he isnt & he's not playing for the U23's to get "match fit" (which was Adkins line last week) then questions need to be asked.

    Not sure he did.

Gilbey said "good to be back on the grass" but didn't mention this game.

Might just have been running at Sparrows Lane but the lack of a team line up and Barnsley's north Korea like ignoring of the result means we don't know for sure.

I would expect us to read our line up and match report without relying on the opposition's website!

All I can add is Herbie Keane, once linked to this Parish, played for Barnsley.

So, my son says to me on Saturday ‘one of my mates plays for Charlton’ who’s that, I say ‘Johl Powell’ he replies. Apart from being taken aback that he knows a Charlton player, that’s the first time he’s ever told me who one of his friends is 😶… He’s 20

Would bring him in, even on loan if we could - Wonder if he was recovering from injury more than anything

Would be interested to know if Lucas Ness got a runout. He was team captain towards the end of last season I think. Deji has gone ahead of him in the pecking order.
  • Team for yesterday match at Barnsley: Nathan Harvey, Charlie Barker, Naz Bakrin, Jason Pearce (Cpt), Jacob Roddy, Ben Dempsey, James Vennings, Euan Williams, Hady Ghandour,
Mason Burstow, and Charles Clayden. Subs Johl Powell, James Beadle, Aaron Henry, Jeremy Santos, and Ryan Viggars, Powell, Henry, and Viggars all came on Dempsey, Vennings, and Ghandour.

Why? If he had would you want him in the 1st team?

Just curious to work out if he's actually a half-decent prospect away from all the nepotism noise
  • No assists for Jacob

I'd be interested how Vennings and Dempsey played, and whether Clare and Dobson are actually any better
