  • Was that Kanu's first appearance for the U23s

That was a young looking Cafc team in the 2nd half. Daniel Kanu is just 17 and that was a great striker's goal. Kanu may have played a couple of games for U23 ?

The Millwall super kid 15 year old Zak Lovelace who came on as sub for the first team last week scored their 2nd goal.

For those who may be interested in the team as I cannot see anywhere

Sam Lavelle and Ryan Viggars are replaced by Harris O'Connor and Jeremy Santos at the break.
  • WOW ! Just WOW !

Thanks to those who brought this coverage to our attention, rather belatedly, we joined in watching the action from the Toolbox as half time approached.

Millwall looked a very competent, skillful side and at 2-0 in front, negative old Fanny wasn't expecting too much from our lads in red after the break.

Oh me of little faith !

Difficult for me to admit, but this silly old gal was in tears by the time the ref blew his whistle to end what turned out to be a magical 2nd half performance from our lovely lads.

Have to admit that yesterday's events around the perfect day we wanted for young Ben have left me feeling somewhat drained, vowing to give myself some "down" time from Charlton related issues.

But I could not have imagined that 47 minutes of football at You Know Where would have lifted me SO much !

We were blown away by the work rate, the teamwork, the skill & endeavour put in by each & every one of those lads - it wouldn't be fair to pick out any one player but have to admit to loving the contribution by Euan Williams. One to watch closely IMO. But any scouts in attendance today will now be scratching their heads as to who to put at the top of their lists......Spoilt for choice comes to mind.

But it would be amiss for me not to mention 2 other "players" that clearly made this 2nd half so compelling.

Anthony Hayes . What a half time talk that must have been ! Plus, of course, the manner in which his team conducted themselves , the confidence he has clearly instilled in each one of them & the belief each has in his team mates. Absolutely fantastic ! The future is so very bright !

And finally, the commentator today who I felt was perfect. Not sure who she is but well done, young lady. Another gem unearthed.

A heartwarming couple of days for all Addicks and a reminder of why we'll always support this wonderful football club.

Looks like we played 3 at the back?

So good to see a comeback from 2 down! Excellent set peices from Henry.

She wouldn't have choked during the game, after a 2 ups.

Just arrived back home from 'The Den', one of the most enjoyable afternoons this season.
Jackson & Euell were also there to witness a great comeback.

Excellent comeback. Good to see Sam Lavelle get a half in too.

Henry is decent, but a penalty and a free-kick their keeper practically threw into his own net doesn't prove a great deal. Kanu seems like the real deal. Who passed to him for the winner? Williams? That was a great ball

I think Henry played the pass. To be honest Henry didn’t have a brilliant game but was in the right place at the right time. His passing is fantastic but his physicality needs to improve

Henry is a very good player and of course the captain, which says a lot about him.
Took the penalty very well sending the GK the wrong way.
The GK should have done better with the free kick, but is was right into the bottom corner and I think it was the bounce that took it over his outstretched hand. Their GK had a very good game overall and made a couple of good saves and one outstanding save. If you hit the target you are always in with a chance.
He does posses a good range of passing and Henry was my MOM.

You could argue that the defender should have done better but that was a great two touches and then pass from Euan Williams to Kanu for the winner - reminded me of Tydeman to Killer. OK maybe Killer would have body checked the centre back to get the opportunity and then smashed it but quite reminiscent and the result was the same - ball in back of net!

Kanu needs to sign a contract sooner rather than later. The longer this drags on, the more concerned I am.

A good rather than a great ball, should have been cut out really. Nice composed finish mind by a very promising young player.

    Great comeback, lovely result.

That was my first assessment but what we can't see is how far way it was from the defender at the interception point as there was definitely some curl on the ball. Don't think anyone could argue, in any event, that the weight of the pass wasn't perfect as it ran away from the defenders outstretched leg and into Kanu's path perfectly.

Has anyone with connections to the club or who go to watch the youth games heard anything about why he hasn't signed yet?

Given his obvious talent you'd have thought we'd want him signed the day he turned 17. But he didn't sign and he still hasn't so there must be a reason.
  • Didn't know the game was on or I might well have gone, envious of you lot that went.
Enough of me, that fight back shows good spirit & morale.
Plenty of young talent including Kanu, Williams, Bakrin, Elerewe to name just a few.
         COYR !

Hmmm, bit of rose tinted specs here, the Millwall defender should have dealt with it comfortably. Not criticising Kanu - his run was good to draw the error but it was an error. Kanu finished well and looks a real goal poacher.

Agree on the weight of the pass. But although young, 9 times out of 10 that’s cut out by the defender.

He’s probably got top clubs from all over the country tapping him up. If he’s got an agent, I’d be surprised if he was pushing him to stay here.
  • @MillwallFan

2-0 and you f****d it up

Isn't it sad that our record is so poor against Millwall at first team level that we (I) have to pipe up after an u-23 game.
