Best of luck to academy graduate Ben Dempsey, who has joined Scottish Championship side @AyrUnitedFC until the end of the season

Good luck to him. Got visions of it being a bit grim round that part of Scotland
    Aye, it's hellish right enough

Was meaning more around the football ground itself, as opposed to around the coastline. Sorry if it was offensive
No offence taken, should have added a winkie emoji. However as the area around the ground is a railway yard you may be looking at the CL banhammer for sacrilege

hope not - that'll be another harry arter / watson scale drain - should be building for next year now
  • With Dempsey and Davison gone, does that free up one or two spots in the registration?

Cant remember if Dempsey was added as he's over 21

Isn't Gunter rumoured to be on about 6k a week with us? I don't think he's been terrible but that money could have been used so much better

Including JFC I think we’ve still got 22 outfield players after the signing of Castillo.

Basically Schwartz, Davison and Arter out, Aneke, JFC and Castillo in. Dempsey was never in the squad.

Surprised with the Davison move, I wonder if that's because Jacko is now looking at Leko as a striker with Matthews being back available. Our balance is weird at the moment. Matthews played at CB when Jacko first started because he was good at pushing out to the right back spot when the RWB was pushing forward. It will be interesting to see if he can take that role off Clare now or if he's the backup RWB. Either way, I feel for Davison. At the start of the season he was looking a lot more useful than Stockley who looked completely lost under Adkins, weirdly so given he was excellent under him the previous season in the same formation. Davison has really laboured under Jackson though and I doubt there's anything left for him under this regime.

We don't have to register players if we don't want to right? Given today's news, I would imagine that Souare will be unregistered whether he can be offloaded or not.

Presumably JFC won't be officially included in the 22 man squad yet anyway; if we had wanted to use Castillo on Saturday (if he hadn't been out with Covid) we would still have been ok, even before Davison leaving

Still find it strange why Davison was never regarded as home grown.

If the rumours of Stockley's injury are true, good chance he's been de-listed.

Browne had another offer that’s why there a hold up on that deal … nothing to do with medical etc etc

He’s had two successful loan spells at Oxford, he knows the place and let’s be honest it’s more attractive in the short term as they’re in a promotion battle.  It’s a complete guess but I reckon it’s them.
Without knowing finances, I would pick Oxford over us at the moment.
We have made him a far better offer then Oxford …

??? JJ literally said today he’s not far away from returning and JFC is the only long term

Possible but surely that will be a last resort bearing in mind we’d still need to pay his wages / contract up.

    I agree Swisdom.
Don't think Leko, CBT or Leko could every be good enough or fit enough to be regular wing backs. Would probably need to play 45 minutes and swap !
Hope in the away game Purrington comes back in.  Await to see how Castillo shapes up in the LWB position.

If Rhoys Wiggins had stayed fit, he would have emulated Simon Francis (attacking full back until becoming a CB) and played at a higher level as a wing back.
Steady defender and lovely sight to see him attacking.

Ah, Simon Francis,  another player hounded and written off by Charlton supporters and whst happened to him in his last game for us, a league cup game at the Valley  was a disgrace.
Then he goes to Bournemouth under a decent  manager and has a great career in the Championship and the Premiershit with Bournemouth of all teams. Oxo Tower was another at Brentford.
You can only go on what you see as a fan. He was one THE worst players of that era, which takes some doing. Total garbage in a Charlton shirt.

Quite simply, Burstow has replaced Davison who unfortunately has now proved himself surplus to requirements i'd say - i'm also not sure where Leko fits in coz he didn't feature at all on Saturday and i thought DJ was poor and was ripe for being hauled off - wonder if he's on his way or whether jacko is giving him a bit of a wake up call - getting kirk fixed up with another side now also seems quite important coz i just can't see that situation turning around and we need to use this next 3/4 months to sort ourselves out for next year

Assume the club are trying to shift Kirk and Souare and if not won't put one or both on the squad list.

And we don't know if JFC or Stockley will be included in the squad.

Jackson seems to be keen to clear some space.

The Nile John deal appears to have broken down after an unsuccessful medical and were competing for Browne it seems.

Who knows who else is on our radar?
  • I think we all should get behind Josh, he clearly has not been able Neil down a place in the team, so go and score a hat full down in Wiltshire, it a good luck from me for the rest of the season!

Will be interesting to see who is in the squad for the Pompey game, seeing as it's on deadline day. Assuming players haven't left already you may see Kirk, Leko, Gunter etc. not make the trip as they might be involved in a last minute dash somewhere

Francis was horrific for us.  Nobody could have foreseen him becoming a premier league player .

Any chance of this Jack Russell fella signing?
Don't think Charlton need a 58 year old wicket keeper
    38, we'd be interested

With the form that Stockley was in...I suspect that he would have been attracting lots of interest in the window - and probably from Championship level.  I do wonder if we are being over protective of him to keep in out of the shop window in January.  Wouldn't mind betting he is back in early February (fingers crossed thingy).

I think everyone knows Jayden Stockley isn’t a striker that’s going to do much at Championship level. For the cost it would take to acquire him, I can’t see anyone willing to pay that for a target man.
