Not a particularly good photo but one I feel I wanted to share tonight.
The place is Talbot House Poperinghe near Ypres in Belgium. In WW1 it was a place of refuge and peace for men of all ranks.
I think this photo was taken on a trip with Henry Irving. It was a particularly cold January day and after a freezing walk in Ploegsteert Wood we headed to Talbot House for a hot mug of tea ( Belgian Beer would flow later). After a swig of tea Nick was digesting the music sheet and following a few demo runs burst into a very decent version of “Its a Long Road to Tipperary”. Our choral support did not give it justice.
Another side of the man that many of us will miss very much. RIP Nick.

Just off to this with @bigwilliam. Going to be emotional.5

Think of all his friends and family today. Hope it goes as well as could.12

Just back from a lovely service for the Big Man. Lots of Charlton colours on display so it was not in doubt who his beloved team were. Some nice and funny stories told and some great pictures also. That curly perm was a cracker.
I really wished I could have stayed on for the afters so I could have sunk a few beers in his honour.
Maybe a few of us could do that after a game when Ben is able to come and join us.
Rest in Peace Nick.

Just back from Nick's funeral.
All very well organised and three pints of Moretti on Nick, that was a first ha ha.
It was great to chat and remenisce with @Henry Irving @SE7toSG3 and @SoundAsa£.
Brilliant also to attend an excellent send off for one of our most loyal supporters. He sacrificed attending matches as part of the magnificent B20, something I couldn't do myself, but knew how much it must have hurt him not to watch his beloved Charlton.
Finally well done to @Live by the sword for (just about) keeping his composure when reading out Kiplings legendary poem, If.
RIP Nick.

It was a good send off for Nick.
Anyone who'd ever had the dubious pleasure of being driven by Nick would have laughed when they found out, as I did today, that it took him six attempts to pass his driving test..
Good to see you @bolloxbolder @Big William @Curb_It @Imissthepeanutman22 @SE7toSG3 @SoundAsa£ and a few others who I'm not sure are on here despite the occasion.
Music was RRR, Elgar's Nimrod, Ramble On by Led Zeppelin and Neil Young's Heart of Gold
Big thank you to @northstandsteve for providing the Charlton flag that went over the casket.29 -
Hello everyone Jacob here (Nicks Stepson) I want to thank everyone that came today. Nick would have loved that pub today, seeing good friends with good drink and having good laughs stay safe everyone. Give the lads a shout for Nick, up the addicks!33

@AberystwythAddick Jacob your family did him proud mate, he was a wonderful bloke which is why so many came to say their goodbyes, that said he won't be forgotten in SE7 and as @Curb_It suggested, nor will his 80s curly perm!7

All seems a bit surreal, best wishes to Nick's family & friends.3

Nice to see you again Jacob, my god how you have grown since I last saw you up at Blackpool.
It was a very fine service for Nick.
He thought a lot of you Jacob and was very proud of you and being at Uni.
There was only one Nick and he pointed all you kids in the right direction giving you all a great start in life.
Uncle Jacob, now that’s something to make you smile!
Rock on young fella……rock on.9 -
Can't add much to what's already been said, it was a fine send off to a true Charlton and CL character. It was good to swap a few (mostly tall) stories with some of the folks on here, and, #Live by the Sword, you played a blinder.5

And Rupert is gorgeous

Thanks so much for the reports. Glad to hear Nick had an appropriately Addickted send-off. Nick and family and friends in my thoughts tonight. Raising a glass.2

Sleep well, big man34 -
Nick’s last trip to The Valley, but Grandson Rupert’s first. Needless to say, he felt at home.

Very nice. That’s a lovely pic. I often think of Nick. He is very much missed on here. You have @ the wrong user on your post Henry. which made me laugh as it reminded me of that banning and the confusion of same names.0
