Hope you can still contribute in some way or another Mick.
You and Parkesy have been great servants over many years, things just aren’t going to be the same not seeing your familiar faces around the place.
Thanks for your always fair and thoughtful input.

Lovely man and has Charlton Athletic running through his veins. He will have quietly stepped in and sorted stuff out hardly any of us can comprehend. He was truly the red man fighting for us from the inside during the shitarse years and subsequently when Southall and his gang of chancers moved in.

Whenever me and Mick are in the same pub from now on in, Mick does not pay for a drink

    All the best Mick.
Thanks for the last 25 years.
After the outgoings at the club in the last month i do hope weve tied down @Tracey to a 20 year contract.
  • My main memory of the man was after a gnome I'd bought in the club shop got left I'm the stadium. I emailed Mick on the off chance it had been found. It had and he told me where to meet him at next home game to collect. When I saw him he knew exactly what I was talking about and radioed through to the control room (where Charlie the Charlton Gnome had been hanging out) asking for them to confirm that he had been fed and watered and was ready for collection.

    Made me giggle anyway.

    Top man
  • Mick is a top man and very clued up ….
Who’ll be in charge and have the nous to deal with matchday operations when the scum next arrive in town
  • Mick deserves some R & R & that "real" Rolex he'll undoubtedly be presented with come May.

Thanks for everything you've done for this famous football club , young man !

Similar to Chris Parkes, never had any conversation or dealings with him and in the grand scheme of things only about 1% of football supporters would have any interest at all in who their clubs safety officer (or club secretary) is.

However, the fact Mick is so well known and seems to be very much respected by those who know him is obviously testament to him. Suspect behind the scenes at the club is going to lose a lot of knowledge, experience and gut sense of a fellow fan.

    Good luck for the future.

There are a lot of Mick stories, a lot.
Allow me to remind everybody of one by asking a question.
Which end was the Doncaster penalty shoot out?

I thought the police made the decision that night, I might be wrong though ...  ;)

Such a coincidence that we had a member of staff with such good contacts with the OB. Of course that had nothing to do with their decision on the night.

    No, nothing at all.

    All made on safety reasons.

Just to be clear, Mick hasn't been "safety officer" for 25 years. He was initially employed in a completely different capacity, working with fans, and has had a number of roles, but in any event he is a problem solver which is why he has been so valuable to the club.

He must have been continually rushed off his feet.

I have never met him, but he did something for our family which means we hold him in high regard - when my Dad was diagnosed with cancer, he had a major operation - after the operation we realised that Dad would not be able to get the train to Charlton / walk to The Valley from the station - via CL members I was put in contact with Mick - he straight away sent us a free car park pass for the West Stand car park, no questions asked - we only used it once, because Dad passed away a few days after the first home game of the 2017/18 season - BUT because of Mick, Dad got to see his beloved team one last time (and we won !!!)

So thank you Mick and enjoy your retirement - fully deserved
lovely story, Mick is an absolute top fella

Known Mick since he set up the Medway branch of the supporters club. A true Charlton man who has been such valuable asset to the club for such a long time.

A very well deserved retirement after the years of shenanigans he's had to deal with. All the best Mick!
