Cripes. A great business leader hires good people. Probably the single most important function of senior leadership. Unfortunately TS gets this wrong time and time again. This isn't a downside view, there is a bucket load of evidence for it in the last 2 years.
Who knows, maybe Gallen has done a Business Administration course and he's moving up the ladder...6 -
Is the COO a position that's vital in running a football club? I ask sincerely as I don't know the structure of a FC.Ā

But in the NHL.....2

At no point have I said anything like that. All I have done is point out theĀ actual non playing recruitment since TS took over.paulfox said:

IF this rumour is true its a fact that TS took over the club and made 3 appointments to run the club
Mumford
Roddy
Adkins (and his subsequent replacement sacked)
All gone within about 20 months. That is not positive however you dress it up
We all want him to succeed at running this club, we will all benefit.
ButĀ its no good just blindly praising when at presant other than saving the club from the crooks we have not yet achieved anything, and we won't if we cannot get the right people into the right roles 2 years down the track.
Always time to turn it around8 -
New employee doesnāt pass probationary period. Nothing new is it?5

Not common in senior positionsValleyGary said:New employee doesnāt pass probationary period. Nothing new is it?28 -
For a c-suite role you would expect probation to be at least 6 months. It will be almost impossible to get rid before then unless it is gross misconduct or a mutual decision.ValleyGary said:New employee doesnāt pass probationary period. Nothing new is it?4 -
It is when it's the most senior non football employee at the club. Jokat isn't an accounts assistant or a trainee in the ticket officeValleyGary said:New employee doesnāt pass probationary period. Nothing new is it?1 -
Fair enough. But if TS isnāt happy with what heās shown then better to act now right? TS needs someone in charge of operations he can trust. An error is judgement is certainly not uncommon.JohnnyH2 said:

Ā Certainly another indication TS needs a football club man in there with him.3 -

Totally agree.Ā 2 years down the track you would have thought the turnover off staff would be settling down not increasingValleyGary said:

I was being sarcastic, we are going around in circles with the putting the boot in, and the blind support debates. Bored of it now, think we would be better to see what happens and support the team as thatās what we can control.JohnnyH2 said:

Agree we can't control what happens at the club, but this is a forum so what else should we do, not post anything until the season starts?6 -

I would say he could do less damage as COO than he could in his current role.DamoNorthStand said:
Chorley yes. Please can we stop this madness on MS - he's there to get a free job from Dad. That's fine - stick him somewhere that doesn't really have a massive impact on the club to learn. Get a COO that has proper experience in the sports space. If Jokat wasn't cut for it for whatever reason (and he at least had a relevant CV), why would MS be?ĀCafc43v3r said:
That would make a hell of a lot of sense.Ā Probably too much sense.ĀCovered End said:
Chorley as Director of Football and Martin Sandgaard moves to COO would make sense.Covered End said:Maybe we're getting Chorley?
Come on.
I mean what even is it, its what ever you want it to be. Its basically managing 4 or 5 department heads isn't it?0 -
Jokat no longer appears on the staff page on the website which was updated todayĀ

Why? Do C-Suite roles have more protection/rights than other roles?DamoNorthStand said:

if anything itās better to bin them nice and early (Iāve seen it happen a a lot).
It does call into question the selection and interviewing methods thoughā¦8 -

Sure but with the exception of Bowyer the argument is circular.Āpaulfox said:
To be fair there seems to be an argument for all of them doing a shit job, if TS sees it that way heās entitled to get rid, if he thinks he can get better.Athletico Charlton said:Strange one if true after such a short space of time.
More worrying is that it would start to show a pattern developing after Roddy and Mumford not to mention Bowyer, Adkins, Jackson, Skiverton and Euell on the footy side (plus possibly others).Ā Unstable work places are not healthy places to work in.
Hopefully just a rumour and not accurate.
Either TS brings in competent people then they leave/are sacked pretty swiftly = not a great look orTS brings incompetent people in and then they leave/he has to sack them pretty quickly = not a good look.Ā
TS has done a lot of good things for us and got a lot right but senior football and non football staff appointments to date have not proven in the medium term to be one of those yet.Ā Fingers crossed on the footy side the latest ones prove more successful.5 -

I heard he was walking to the bank to pay the rent and dropped the cash down the drain by accident.Ā

We don't know the ins and outs. Maybe he was buying porn channels on the company card in the hotel room, maybe he tried to stick it on Raelynn, maybe he always turned up half an hour late for meeting stinking of booze, maybe he was leaking signings and the news of Garner etc to Cawley, maybe he had a target for a new commercial deal in his first 6 weeks and failed to hit it2
-
Obviously we all want stability with the right people, but Iād rather he tinkers and decides to change what he thinks isnāt working than let them carry on doing a shit job, itās the time he doesnāt bother to change things that would potentially be more of a worry as thatās when he decides bollox to it, he obviously cares enough to make things a success. We were moaning when Roland didnāt give a toss, and now there are people moaning that heās too involved. š¤·š»āāļøBowyer fucked it up for himself Iām afraid, I was eventually relieved he decided to jump ship, and thatās not to say when he was doing well he deserved credit. We seem to have made good steps forward with various recruitments and letting people go this week and there is still the negative element wafting around like one of my bad farts after a dodgy Indian!!!š¤¢š„µš¤£Athletico Charlton said:

Think TS needs to attend a seminar called " The importance of stability in a football club".
Squeaky b*m time for other staff members at our club ?Ā0
