Oh thats a shame... Hated him at Red Bull as thought he was a bit of a prick (Not for his winning), but he's grown up to be one of the best spoken drivers on the grid.

Now starts the debate over who'll replace him.

Piastri to AM - Sargeant to Williams?

Like a lot of people, I really didn’t like him in his early days. Came across as really arrogant, although that’s a trait that a lot of top performers seem to have.  In recent years though, he’s become “human”. Used his position to speak out against a lot of abuses, including against countries hosting F1. One of F1, and life’s, real good guys.

I didn't see it at first but he is probably my favourite driver. Principled and decent and with a great sense of humour. And of course four World titles is impressive.

His retirement announcement video is worth a watch. Be very very interested to see what he does next , don't think he's going to be around the paddock that often and he'll be focusing on his environmental and social issues work.

Maybe it can go Danny Ric to AM, one of the Indycar McLaren guys to F1. They currently have Rosenqvist, O'Ward, Rossi and Palou (contentious that last one) on their books, and only 3 seats in Indycar next season... They also have a new Formula E team to kit out in drivers, but this could be a way to work around Palou's issue between him, Chip Ganassi and McLaren. Piastri to then slot into Williams instead of Latifi.

Personally I'd like to see AM also ditch Stroll but that's not happening any time soon

To me It seems a Red Bull thing, everything about that team to me seems to exude a shithousery attitude.
Seb,  a nicer person nowadays. Would have been nice to see him do a little better in recently but he leaves with a record that most never get close to.

What a classy individual he has become.

I hope the upgrade works but somehow I dont think its that radical, 11th fastest in practice. Unless they're keeping some performance back for tomorrow.

Clever interpretation of the rules, but it's not a "double diffuser" or "F-duct" or "DAS" moment where it propels the team right to the front

Where the hell did that just come from... Sainz bloody improved his time as well

Where on earth has George found that lap from? Would love to see the onboard because that is out of nowhere.

Very very exciting grid for tomorrow with the RBs midpack and Lando off the second row too

Brilliant lap from Russell… watching it back it was about as perfect a lap as you can get. Shame Lewis DRS failed - could have been looking at an all British Merc front row. Will be a great race with Max and Lewis fighting through and George battling the Ferraris at the front

Any news on Max and his PU issues? Assuming now we're in parc ferme they'll either have to change what is required and suffer a grid pen or take the gamble in hope they can sort it without touching the car?

Reckon the Ferrari's will be too strong on racepace so George will be fighting for a third place in the end (unless of course they blow up)

Hungary isn't the best place for overtaking though.

Looking at their two laps, Russell was faster than Sainz down the start straight, which is the best place to overtake here... Although he equally admitted that they have no idea how the Merc will cope in race pace this week, due to the conditions during each of the Free Practices

Alonso vs Hamilton and Ocon vs Vettel last year is proof of that - Russell too has shown he can be a bugger to pass, unless of course he agrees with you, and lets Ferrari pass so he doesn't just wreck his chances of a podium.

Gonna be a fascinating race either way with Alonso ahead of both Hamilton and Verstappen already, for a pretty dry Quali, the grid is a mess.

The other factor that could help Russell, is the fact that Sainz and Leclerc could well trip over each other... Especially as there appear to be no team orders within Ferrari at the moment, so could easily see a repeat of Silverstone with those two.

Although not the best example, seeing they still managed to win

Weather forecast is only for light rain , more likely it will make for some fun F3/F2 races and clear for a dry F1 race.

Would love to see George win but am expecting chaos from a mixed up grid

    Sigh.
    Verstappen.
He’s such an unlikeable character, but you’ve got to give him credit.
    He’s an excellent racing driver.
Made passing Alonso, Ocon and Norris look like a stroll in the park.

Not enjoying this race... the longer Russell holds out, the more frustrating it'll be when he gets caught - The battle between him and Leclerc could be fun though

I think in later years in his career, Russell's extremely hard defending might cause some issues. I know it's racing and if you're in front you can pick whatever line you like, but he seems to like to deliberately "wash out" on the exit of corners to force the following driver to lift off or take slightly avoiding actions, and one day it'll backfire

Can see bits of Verstappen in his aggressive driving.

    Great pass from Leclerc though

Got a feeling that Verstappen has just won

Why has Leclerc gone on to the Hard tyre

Fucking Crofty is such a wank commentator, Russell passing Perez behind a recently spun Verstappen, and he's screaming about Hamilton passing Verstappen

Only hope is Sainz holds out for another 7 or 8 laps, goes on softs and tears through the field
