The NZ Government have just announced a cut in excise duty and other fees which will reduce a litre of petrol by .25c from midnight tonight.1

If we’re being pedantic, in the US, petrol, or even gasoline, is purchased in whatever volume you want to purchase it. It may be priced per US gallon but that’s a different matter.Lincsaddick said:

I paid £1.859 yesterday in Sainsburys down by the O2, today i paid £1.719 in Newton Steward in Scotland. Someone is taking the piss.2

prices round here (N E LINCS) are the same, @ £1.85 ish .. • Special 95: Dh3.92 — decreasing from Dh4.52 in July (a fall of 13 per cent)
• Diesel: Dh4.14 — reducing from Dh4.76 in July (a fall of 13 per cent)
• E-plus 91: Dh3.84 — falling from Dh4.44 in July (a fall of 13.5 per cent)
The top price (Diesel) works out to 93p per litre.
That's not helpful either is it?

Just back from Northern Ireland. Here's an indication of how we are being ripped off.
95 Octane petrol -
Small petrol station attached to a Spar shop in a rural village, Stranocum: 165.9
Large Applegreen service area on M1 near Belfast: 174.5
Moto service area near Wetherby on the A1 in Yorkshire: 201.5
There can be no justification for these price differentials.7 -

Unleaded is 157.9 where I am now, there has been a constant queue for the last few days. Co-op just outside Ludlow and it's 172.90

Got home this evening to humid Swanley to find diesel at 186.9. Thats 3p cheaper than anything we saw in Cornwall.
