I've lost complete faith in the ITK'ers, don't blame you guys but it's clear your sources know fuck all (including Martin Sandgaard)
People can be in the know about whats potentially happening in the background

But until it happens a lot can change - No wonder less and less people on here are sharing information they're aware of, if they're gonna get stick when it doesnt happen

    Hmmm.

Might be worth checking what Martin actually told several Lifers at last night's game.

Sounded to me as though he was 100% certain of his facts on the transfer front.

Now IF he was a bona fide employee at our club, he might have found that his salary had suddenly become  "too rich" in the current economic climate ( at CAFC )

That’s inexcusable tbh. We’ve had 3 months to sign a striker after letting a perfectly good one go for free.

I assume either QPR pulled of the deal because they needed to get a striker in themselves or Bonne changed his mind. Either way, leaving it until the evening of deadline day and failing is a complete embarrassment. Sandgaard has once again over promised and horribly under delivered.
We have had 14 months to sign a striker, we were light when Aneke left the first time.

One positive is that we hung onto Dobbo and Clare.
But our chances of promotion haven’t been enhanced.
  • Don't worry, when Aneke comes back he's a cheat code in this division....
  • I know why it happens (because one player in is linked to another going out etc etc) but it never ceases to amaze me that clubs leave things to the very last minute. Whether Bonne was the right signing or not is irrelevant but, when one like this falls through at the last minute, it leaves us with nowhere to go bar an untried PL/Championship loan or a free that is a free for a reason.

The statement issued by the Club is one that was that was first used by Meire and subsequently by Southall. We've heard it all before.
  • Chill guys and girls, this is the future for all transfer windows with break even Tommy in charge.
There was no striker half way through the door, smoke and mirrors, you can smell the BS.
    Onwards and upwards

Be interesting if it was an admin error, we probably had Keohane filling the gap left by Chris Parkes

I'm almost convinced they're delaying announcements for dramatic effect.
I gave them too much credit.

Well that didn’t go to plan. Just passed on what I was told from a usually impeccable source, not convinced even the recruitment team have much of a clue.
But we’ve made 7 good signings and we have a positive new way of playing football. It’s happened before and it’ll happen again, not just at Charlton. We all wanted another striker but it ain’t come off. I look forward to 3 points at Bolton.

CB far far more important imo. Inniss is made of glass, and it’s a matter of when not if he gets injured. And once he does we’re left with 2 senior centre backs to cover 2 positions.

Until the Contract is signed any number of things can happen

Martin is a twat for thinking he was 100% certain, but until its on the O/S anyone is an idiot for believing that.

It should always be appreciated if a Lifer passes on the information they've heard, but again it should never be taken as gospel and those who pass the information on should never be moaned at until its on the OS
  • QPR fan reckons it’s because they didn’t get a striker in.

For me, Bonne is insignificant. It’s the fact we’ve let it tick down to the final seconds when it’s been clear since the first game Stockley wasn’t gonna work in Garners system. That on top of the failure to get in another defender that we’ve seemingly been after for weeks is what makes this so damning.
Thought I saw they'd signed Surridge from Forest?

    Agreed on the second part.
  • Down to Garner the current squad and some of the up and coming talent we’ve got then. I refuse to be as defeatist as many on here, especially with how we’ve started.

That being said there was enough attacking players available for us to have for something sorted if we really wanted to. Makes the resigning of Aneke even more of a miff to me.

Hahahahaha for all of you saying "patience" and "wait until the window closes", where are you now?!

    Absolute chancers
    This in spades......and more spades.

Week after week I kept being told we have until Sept 1st to finalise our transfer dealings.

Why dont people listen when I say you want to get your players in early. I bet some posters on here wait until xmas day to buy their loved ones some presents & end up having to buy an ice scraper or driving gloves from the petrol garage.

    Utter shambles.

No signing. Player passed their medical but no deal.
    It doesn't actually say that
It could have been many reasons

    Yes it does...

We thought we were there and the player had passed his medical at our training ground on Thursday evening, but unfortunately there were complications beyond our control late in the day, which went down to the last minute, and we haven’t been able to sign the player.
The player had passed his medical !!

He did NOT fail his medical

My grasp of English is quite good

The player did NOT fail his medical ffs !!
lol!... You need to go away and calm the fuck down fella
No I just don't need calling out for the club to fail to sign anybody but move on two first team squad players and two junior players yet have a CEO / Owner telling us we were pushing for two, maybe more players.

It is what it is BUT we are going nowhere in Division 3.  Stand back and actually understand that.

Charlton are a mid table, division three team.

    I want better.  Sorry.
  • Bitterly disappointing, even with Bonne if that's happened.

You think you've turned a corner with this club and end up right back where you started.
F******g bunch of amateurs. There can be absolutely no doubt about that now..

I fail to see how even the most optimistic can think we're progressing/ escaping this league under this owner. Going nowhere fast at best and backwards at best on and off the pitch and that's some achievement after the last decade of self destruction.

Just be honest and stop with the bullshit.  It's insulting if he doesn't believe it but more worrying if he does.

Need to hope that Garner is the next David Moyes as currently feels like another also ran squad compared to the other promotion chasing clubs we're supposedly competing with.
For the sake of a decent centre back, a decent striker & maybe a LB & I think we would have been challenging for top 6 (not top 2). As it is I can only see a mid table finish because we aren't going to score enough goals & look likely to ship goals at the back. It's a job half done but the sandgaard family know best or possibly having realised the cost involved are happy to keep us at this level.

Can you tell us who the players were at this point?
Defender was a loan from champ side, wasn’t given name.

    Forward was Scully from Lincoln.
Clear what happened with Scully then, Championship interest came in and we didnt stand a chance
  • Don't expect anything of significence to be announced, which suggests that cost cutting is more important than a push for promotion.

Thanks for sharing. Scully would have been an excellent signing and would presumably have trumped Bonne. I was really pleased with our earlier business but the last few weeks has been a total non-event. They do not seem to learn.

I was clearly referring to the naivety of the owner's son , NOT the reports of his words last night.

According to you, there appears to be a number of idiots on the site that you monitor....

We are now officially fucked. . . 95% done direct from the man who does the transfers. . . Still doesn’t happen . . . Fear the mood turns now so early in the season if we don’t win on Saturday.
In fairness, it probably was, or they thought it was. There are always so many moving parts in this with deals at the end of the window and you’ve got to remember, someone like Martin Sandgaard just don’t have much experience with all this (I mean that as a fact not a dig).

I believe we were told he said it's 95% done (having known the player had passed his medical) but obviously anything less than 100% isn't done and so it came to be.

Now I wonder if Bonne and his agent saw the reaction from us and it turned his head right back round again.

We all went better you idiot - A good number of us though dont feel the need to act like spoilt children who havent got the toys they wanted come Christmas Day - We're grown adults, many of us have children ourselves, I'd be embarrassed if I started acting in a manner that I wouldnt ever expect from my four year old

    Well... shit. That's disappointing.

Sadly, my worst fears that we were going to be ultra-frugal and spend nothing have been realised. The lack of cover for up top and at the back remains a concern and we're now where we are until January.

Can't shake the feeling that we don't quite have the squad to get to playoffs. Really felt like we were going to get a couple in and push on. Still looking forward to seeing more Garnerball, but there's not much depth in those key areas.

    A big shame.
  • Just do not know how we can play Garner's system when the main focal point does not work in this system. All that time, that planning? Even a centre half would have been good, if you cannot score don't concede. Now who wants a season ticket or pay the upgrade on a matchday ticket?
