    I wonder how long before Alex Brundle is promoted to being involved, Martin is obviously picking and choosing what races he does now after his health scares. Crofty just grates sometimes

    The other view is just as bad if not worse (clip on the last page) showing a Marshal on the track quickly getting out of the way

    Can someone tell me what is the point of the extreme wet tyres? Teams all started on intermediates, a few spin and it’s red flagged before anyone tries running on full wets. Then they wait forever to restart the race and teams are off the extreme wets within a couple of laps. 

    If you’re not going to use the extreme wets to actually get some wet weather racing that’s not behind the safety car, why bother having them?

    This and Singapore last week, two of the dullest wet races I can remember.

    Congratulations to Verstappen, I’m not a fan, but with Hamilton getting older and his powers fading a little, imo, and the Merc so much slower than the Red Bull, no one in this field can touch Verstappen’s  talent right now.

    Not an RB fan (bar Adrian Newey who I think is one of the greatest minds ever in any sport) but fair play to them , this looks like another dominant era for them like they had with Vettel. Car and driver just look unstoppable and they seem to have fixed the PU issues from earlier in the season. 

    Next season will be very very interesting to see if anyone can catch them , surely Mercedes can't design 2 dud cars in 2 years and the W14 will actually be a challenger. Ferrari who knows? Leclerc is hugely talented but still makes weird errors under pressure so I do wonder about him.

    Red Bull and Aston Martin have breached the cap as expected

    However Aston Martin's was a mistake, so only Red Bull have intentionally breached it - FIA saying that Red Bull only went over by less than 5% so unsurprisingly wont get a severe penalty

    If all they get is a fine, doors will open for every team to overspend by 4.9%.

    I think this was always going to happen first year and the FIA just need to tighten up the grey areas that I'm sure the teams were looking for.

    Cheating fuckers. Throw the book at them. I don't give a fucking fuck if they have spent £2.50 over the limit. 

    It is intentional cheating. Disqualify Verstappen, Perez and the team from the 2021 title race. Double the amount they overspent as a deduction on next seasons spending.

    One small change to a car can have massive consequences moving forward in development.

    Cheating, cheating filth.

    Yes that was my understanding that it's probably just going to be a large fine

    This is the first year of the budget, and the 5% was already factored in, so no-ones getting thrown out the championship or anything like that. 

    Personally, I'd like to see the % they went over deducted from the % they are allowed in the wind tunnel, further impacting their development chances, as well as a fine that has to be factored into the budget for next season too

    The catering and sick leave line is a PR spin to gather sympathy, especially as sick leave actually isn’t included in the cost cap.

    I think personally they need to go in hard and set a precedent, let’s not lie here half the teams  in F1 can afford to pay a fine for an overspend and I worry all teams will now take liberties.

    I'd say your proposed punishment is probably very very close to what they'll get , a loss of windtunnel time and a large fine is what I expect.

    Why have laws and rules if they can be ignored?
    If Ferrari  were in with a shout  of winning I'm sure there would be more made of this.
    As its Red Bull the penalty should be;  overspend = multiply by a factor of 10 and deduct that percentage from the overall points total.

    We still never found out what punishment Ferrari got in 2019 for their engine trickery with the fuel flow sensors.

    Agree with this, i think that what they went over by should be deducted from their budget for next season, as well as a fine. So for example a 10m fine + the overspend means their budget is 17.5m less next season.

    They'll probably end up with a warning and just be told 'don't do it again'.

    As some will know I spent some time working with Lewis. He is a lovely guy, kind and considerate and also quite deep and complex. I have often wondered around his mental health in certain circumstances - I know he takes some of the comments online people have made about him very hard. I hope he’s ok:

    We'll see if its the right decision, but regardless... Nice that Williams are actually using their Academy - Looking at you Alpine!! - Especially with O'Sullivan looking decent in F3 this year, so they've got another prospect up their sleeves.
