Was he actually on the pitch? Looked like he was stood behind the line...ForeverAddickted said:Thats the risk of having a man on the post... no chance of that being offside1 -
Christ, that defending.0

Blatant cheating from that man though in trying to camouflage himself as part of the postForeverAddickted said:Thats the risk of having a man on the post... no chance of that being offside
Shame for Senegal he was standing on the wrong post2 -

God I love the World Cup4

Gonna be glued to Ecuador v Senegal for the next 20 minutes. Got to love World Cup drama and the permutations it throws up.2
-
So no mention of Charlton when they have talked about Sarmiento, was described as a Brighton boy... no he is Charlton! grrr2
-
I'm surprised that they let Trossard referee this match seeing as he has club teammates playing for one of the countries.3
-
Ecuador seem to fumble in good areas alot and really poor control. Probably the situation but they have had chances just messed up.
Lack of quality on show here.0 -
I can cope with all the players being younger than me, it's the referees being younger too which is depressingjimmymelrose said:I'm surprised that they let Trossard referee this match seeing as he has club teammates playing for one of the countries.

Disappointing performance from Ecuador.3

Congratulations Senegal, deserved it after four years ago1
-
Ecuador absolutely choked, tried to defend a draw worse than Charlton when we faced Doncaster in 2018-192

So Netherlands win the group and will play the opening round of 16 match against the runner up of England's group on Saturday, 3pm kick off.
Senegal will play the winner of England's group on Sunday, 7pm kick off.1 -
Naby Sarr will be pleased given his Senegalese ancestry...0
-
So USA vs Senegal and Wales against Netherlands

Mendy looked very shaky in goal...0

(Local time for kick-offs below - three hours ahead of the UK)

Hmm so who do we want, given that a tie against the Netherlands will see us avoid France in the Quarters?
(Our record against the Dutch is shite)0 -
No match is easy but out of the top 3 in Group A, I'd rather play Senegal. That match against Equador could have gone either way.
Senegal lack discipline and will give away free kicks around the box. Equador didn't put enough pressure on them - they even did a backwards throw-in during additional time, instead of getting it down the line and pulling it back into the box, and I'd expect England to exploit that better.3 -
You have to try and win the game and top the group IMO.ForeverAddickted said:Hmm so who do we want, given that a tie against the Netherlands will see us avoid France in the Quarters?

France in a potential QF is scary but it's knockout football. Every chance it could be a team out of Group C that beats them. Equally, a possibility that the QF is France v Senegal.3 -
Won't be easy - Senegal have nothing to lose and every neutral will back them...jimmymelrose said:No match is easy but out of the top 3 in Group A, I'd rather play Senegal. That match against Equador could have gone either way.

Agree - I think Ecuador are the better team overall, especially as Senegal are without their talisman. I was not looking forward to a potential clash with Ecuador but Senegal will play more open football and that should suit us.jimmymelrose said:No match is easy but out of the top 3 in Group A, I'd rather play Senegal. It was their negative tactics that did for Ecuador today. If they had opened the group against Senegal without knowing what they knew today, I think result could have been very different.
