He was originally out with an illness so hopefully nothing too serious relating to that.
Or it was a cover for whatever else was going on that caused him to head back.
Luckily for England in a position that is probably in least need for cover with Trippier, Walker and TAA all there.1 -
Sad news for him, but he's young enough to hopefully have future tournaments0
-
He was the 'right of 3' back up really though I think so I guess it's maybe Dier that's now cover for.Walker if we play 3 at the back.SELR_addicks said:He was originally out with an illness so hopefully nothing too serious relating to that.

Find it interesting we've played 20 different players at some point so far.
Under the old 23 man squad we'd be one player (a centre back probably) away from every outfield player having a game.0 -
Poor strike by Bielik, he needs Lee Bowyer to make him better again0

please shut up, murphy. If you were giving me next week's winning lottery numbers I still couldnt bear hearing your voice

So the most realistic chance of Argentina v France is two draws?0
-
Argentina getting a penalty no doubt
God the bigger teams are getting some debatable decisions this tournament1 -
Szczęsny has every right to go for that ball. I can't see how that is a penalty?

That's outrageous that decision5

How on earth is that a penalty?1

Another nonsense VAR decision. Never a pen.2

Jeez, that's dreadful. Anyone but Messi and he doesn't give that.2

Thank God he saved it - ridiculous penalty.0

Great save. Poland need to change something as they're being battered here.1
-
I wouldn't want to face Poland in a penalty shootout0

Very one sided game....killerandflash said:Great save. Poland need to change something as they're being battered here.0 -
Didn’t think it was a pen, but had the keeper made contact with Messi with a foot, it would have been given without a doubt.1
-
Listening to Mark Clattenburg on the US coverage, I can absolutely understand why it was given by the letter of the law.
There is no difference in the rulebook for arriving late for a tackle with your foot versus arriving late with your hands for a cross. Both times the ball had gone and both times a foul was technically committed.
An exception needs to be considered in the rulebook for such a situation.1 -
I had two looks and didn't bother watching the next 50 replays cos Var would never give it ...
how is that ever a penalty1 -
Worst decision of the tournament.1
-
It looks unusual because it doesn't happen often, there's no frame of reference to compare it to. That's partly why it doesn't *feel* like a penalty, but as mentioned, if the 'keeper had arrived late with a foot instead, it's a clear penalty. Why does the body part make a difference? By the current rules, it doesn't.1
