mention the boss of the BBC has given Boris Johnson money.
If he had brought up Campbell's involvement in say the Iraq war, then that wouldn't have been relevant.
And its Rory *Stewart* by the way. Who is a Tory.
And, I don't even support the BBC's actions over Lineker, but Campbell has been all over the media today, so I imagine he very much made himself available to all the media outlets, he wasn't dragged kicking and screaming to say something on the BBC.3 -

This thread is also about the removal from BBC One, of a programme made by one of the world's greatest naturalists. The programme being moved so as not to upset right wing Tories. This is censorship of the kind you'd expect from a country like Russia.

IAgree said:Chizz said:Sugar is a presenter on the BBC - Lineker is a presenter on the BBC. One made a statement about Trade Union activity and in particular the leader of the RMT - the other made a statement on how he saw the latest government policy.I agree - neither has anything to do with The Apprentice or MOTD - they are both examples of a so-called breach of impartiality. Sugar isn't a news or current affairs reporter, neither is Lineker, and I have no issue whatsoever with Sugar's or Lineker's comments as they have f*ck all to do with the jobs they do for the BBC.Andrew Neil on the other hand ..........17

The world is nuts.
The societal race to the bottom seems to be steadily going through the gears.13 -
Whether you agree with him or not is irrelevant. The problem is that the taxpayer funds Gary’s ‘huge’ salary under the guidance that he remains politically neutral.20

I wonder if Lineker had praised the Tories for their policy, would he have received the same treatment from the BBC?16

1) He is a sports presenter so as I understand it hasn't broken impartiality rules as they don't apply in his case.
2) What he said was 100% on the money. We are approaching Enoch Powell territory but no one seems to give a shit
3) The BBC are actively caving to right wing populism. Combine this with the the shit that gets printed by Murdoch press and all the social media fake news, what chance do we have.
Seems tolerance, compassion and general decency are truly a thing of the past.
"Could somebody please explain to Mr L the difference between a refugee, (Absolutely terrified, wearing only the clothes they stand up in and often starving, having escaped a warzone), and an economic migrant (Of fighting age, wearing Nike clothes and trainers, sporting the latest haircut, and carrying an Apple phone, mainly from Albania, where there is currently no war being fought).0 -
Well, it's been a great first day as head of HR for the BBC. Now to make a coffee and have a glance at Twitter...

No pundits, no commentators, no post match interviews.
Well done to all involved at BBC...12 - Sponsored links:

It’s not going to be shown is it?If it does go ahead, it will be the highest viewed MOTD in years.2
-
Perhaps we could have the “Masked Pundit “ and get Jonathan Wross to guess who is talking old bollocks!
Not got a lot of time for Lineker, but in this instance he is right0 -
The next day is MOTD 2 so will the boycott extend to that? And then next Saturday? Perhaps until one or other parties backs down?0

I think he hates football and the fact he has to report on it0 -
As one who hates listening to football pundits and always head off to make a cup of tea or do something else to avoid the half time chat when live games are on, I think I might watch MOTD tomorrow for the first time since we were relegated from the Premier League.2

People defending the BBC decision on Linekar but will ignore Alan Sugar or Andrew Neil preaching right wing doctrine shows how partisan the BBC has become.

What a f***ing mess.
The row was dying down, the BBC could have it blow over and if Lineker was getting too much for them, they could have dropped him in two years when his contract runs out. Or let him be poached by whoever gets live PL rights in the next round.Instead, that clown Tim Davie has picked a fight with him and a load of pundits who certainly don't need the money from MOTD. Ultimately, they'll end up pissing away a load of licence-payers' money on paying him off.
And this is the week before the journalists on the BBC's local services - which include the 6.30pm news bulletins that are among the most popular programmes in the country - go on strike over their cack-handed plan to slash local radio to pieces.
It's almost as if there are people inside there trying to destroy it from within. Imagine!14 -
I'll wonder if the format will be deemed a success and the BBC decide to stick with the world feed and no studio presentation.Alot of money could be saved for other programming.I note the BBC has reduced golf coverage significantly in recent times due to cost. This might be seen as an opportunity by some executives.0
