Isn't their template to appoint a funky manager then when it goes Pete Tong appoint a Pulis/Woy/Warnock type to keep them up? Pity for them they missed out on Dyche. Let's hope they get it wrong this time
Slightly harsh, but you can understand the timing as this season is effectively over for them, and the new manager can start preparing for next season now
2nd in the league (1 point off top) having lost 3 games all season. Just knocked PSG out of the CL and are in the quarters. In the German cup quarters as well.
Tuchel is a great appointment though. Should never have been sacked by PSG and was probably harsh to lose his job at Chelsea as well. He was only there 18 months and won 3 trophies and got to 3 more finals.
I sense that they've got rid of Nagelsmann not because of how their season is going but simply because they feel Tuchel is a better manager longer term.
Why has it taken Levy over a week since their last game to bloody do it?
Unless he thinks he can get Nagelsmann who has only just left Bayern.
I suspect that Levy was negotiating with Conte's representatives his severance pay. He might not have long left on his contract but I can't help thinking that Levy would use Conte's outburst as leverage to limit the pay out.
I'm sure Spurs fans would love Pochettino back. He was sacked but has anything changed so far as the lack of financial backing he received when there before? The squad needs a bit of a shake up and will Levy back him to do that? Will he want assurances that Kane is staying? Or will he just be happy to be back somewhere he loved? Perhaps @j@JohnBoyUK can answer those questions.

Oh god. Its my 7th wedding anniversary today, been out in Beckenham and just got told on a call coming back in the taxi. Its not a surprise, we was told he was gone last Sunday.
It was complicated as Spurs and Conte has an option for another year. As far as we saw it, despite what Conte has said was correct, it was borderline gross minsconduct and he was never going to see the next game. Obviously by sacking him, it starved him of the option of the extra year. It was always going to be settled 'mutually'.
I'm so hugely torn. I'd take Poch back in a heartbeat. But now Nagelsmann is 'available', christ. Poch performed a miracle but he was provided with a spine in its absolute prime. Lloris, Alderweirald, Vertonghen, Dembele, Eriksen, Dele and Kane. Throw in the best RB in the league in prime Kyle Walker we had a bit of everything. Bring it back to now, other that a psycopathic Rolls Royce of a centre back in Romero, Dier, Lenglet, Davies or Sanchez doesnt get into any top 10-15 PL side. Dier and Davies werent first choice under Poch originally.
Poch knows how Levy works. He'll ask for a Range Rover but he'll end up with a second hand Hyundai Tuscon, both 4x4s but of significant different quality. Poch asked for Burno Fernandes, Levy agreed the deal and pulled the plug when Gio Lo Celso was cheaper. Kane wont stay and why the hell would he? Sonny is last his best. The midfield lacks creativity. Bentancur is our with his ACL until November.
Nagelsmann is still on Bayen Munich's payroll until July 2026. He's worked in a shoe string at Hoffenheim and Leipzip. Levy wants a 'project manager' rather than a proven winner. He's scratched that itch twice and it hasnt worked. We've had more 'success' with project managers.
Porro was brought in as the prime RWB in Conte's 3-4-3. He's played 2 games. Now Conte has gone, both Poch and Nagelsmann play 4 at the back. Royale is more a RB than RWB and so is Spence. But we've just spunked £45m on Porro. Makes the mind boggle.
Paratici, the football director, has brought in 3-4 people below him all essentially doing the same job. Absolute madness.
Guaranteed Levy will tell whoever comes in they'll need to reintegrate the likes of Spence, Rodon, Reguillon (yes, we have got 4 senior LBs in the squad or on loan), Winks, Lo Celso and Ndombele.
Poch loved Winks. He loved and wanted Ndombele.
Christ my head hurts just thinking about it. Think that might be the Chianti!
Something to add, Paratici's future is in the balance. We'll find out soon whether his ban from Italy is Europe/Worldwide (if you havent seen it, he is involved in the mess as Juventus!)
It wouldnt surprise me if he goes today too tbh.
Whoever is doing the hiring, they need to move quickly. They cant have another drawn out process like last time when they waited and waited and then ended up with Nuno.
Although Poch & Nagelsmann are neck and neck on the BBC poll, Poch is clear front runner on the main Spurs forum poll.
EDIT > its just dawned on me too that Stellini and Mason are in charge until the end of the season. Presumably that means Stellini and the rest of the Italian backroom team see out their contract until the end of the season, limiting the payout. Levy gonna Levy.
I'm so jealous of the Circus at Spurs with their terrible season where they might miss out on the champions League in the Premier and have to suffer the shame of 5th.
CAFC fans have had Clowns for eons and custard pies in their faces. In fact a few have gone in for "Cock in the custard" for some light relief when we beat Morecambe away.
These are the good old days for Spurs fans after Harry Kane moves on to a trophy wonderland at the end of this season.

Ian Dawes will step in as caretaker manager assisted by Andy Parkinson whilst options are considered in preparation for the new season.

Set to be replaced by Tuchel
Bet it wont be long before we see the former in the Premier League

I could see Pochettino going back though, probably suits both.

The Porto Manager Sérgio Conceição also under consideration from what I've been told.
