  • Great day's play today, two games went the distance. Si is a fantastic talent but taking on that pink in the middle was mental.
  • Who is looking a strong bet for the title based on R1 performances?

Yeah, you've got to put that shot selection down to his age. The guys doing commentary couldn't believe it!

Robertson was on a different planet in round 1. Wilson, Higgins & Allen all looked good too
  • Looling forward to Vafaei vs Ronnie this afternoon after everything that's been said!!!

Vafaei is absolutely right about O'Sullivan as a person, but probably wasn't tje smartest move to call him out before a match. Think Ronnie will annihilate him. I hope I'm wrong
  • Jones off to a flyer against Robertson. Didn't see that coming at all!
  • Ronnie is gonna batter him isn't he  :D
  • What the fuck has Vafaei just done?? :)

Absolute idiot. Pissing Ronnie off is quite easily the stupidest thing you can do. That break was a joke
  • Hopefully he has got that out of his system and can play his proper game now

  • Vafaei doesn't seem to understand psychology- ridiculous behaviour.
  • Trying to get into the head of a 7 times world champion is probably not the smartest thing to attempt

Losing 6-1 and not in the game yet..
  • O'Sullivan blows last frame of session - good break by Vafaei. 6-2.

Dennis Taylor has suggested you come to Ulster, as it’s a potential hotbed of young talent as snooker provides an escape for the youngsters of Northern Ireland who are at risk of getting involved in the ongoing troubles.

You accept his offer, but after some further research and reading up on Dennis, you discover he was born in the same town as Denis Haughey, founding member of the SDLP.

You worry that this is all a ruse and Dennis wants you over there to be seen fraternizing with the SDLP and you’re unsure what associating with a party that advocate for the reunification of Ireland could mean for your reputation to attract Irish players, both north and south of the border.  Do you

    A) Ring Dennis and make up some excuse about getting sea sick so you can’t go across on the ferry and are also afraid of flying

    B) Ask Dennis what his relationship to Martin McGuiness is

    C) convince yourself you’ll find a few gems over there and everything will turn out fine

    D) call John Virgo
You to decide to take Dennis up on his offer.  Unfortunately for you, it was a trap, and Dennis greets you as you get off the Ferry with a mix of SDLP politicians

You manage to steady yourself as Dennis and his enclave approach, careful not show any emotion after receiving some advice from John Virgo early in the game.

The trip is going well and you think that being associated and here on the invite of Dennis has boosted your profile and you’ve spotted a young talent that you think could be a real star.

Unfortunately, when you go round to that lad’s house, you walk in and see a picture of William of Orange.  He comes from a Unionist family.

News has spread that you’re over here at Dennis’ bequest and photos of your arrival and being greeted by SDLP politicians have gotten round Ulster.  The parents of the young chap chase you out of their house calling you Fenian scum.

You return home and call John Virgo who tells you that snooker and politics don’t mix, and you’ve learnt a valuable lesson
  • Vafaei played brilliantly v Ding. All the prematch hype and bullshit has backfired for him. Gifting the second frame with a stupid break-off was insane.

Great win by Brecel v Williams. He plays as though he hasn't a care in the world.

Vafaei is a very good player but very naive when it comes to the psychology of sport. Has made himself look pretty foolish trying to play mind games with O'Sullivan.

Winning the last frame helps keep the match alive.

Bit like trying to show Man City you're not frightened if them by playing six upfront, possibly counter productive..
  • The top half of the draw has completely fallen apart already. I've got tickets for SF1 on Friday and was thinking the most likely match up would be O'Sullivan vs Trump or Murphy. It's now looking like I may be watching Ronnie take on an unseeded player, I'm hoping for Si
  • I can't see Si beating McGill, but you never know.

  • Been a very strange tournament this first week. Some very one sided matches plus the pockets seem to be overly forgiving. Seen some good frames but nothing like previous years imo.
Even the close match between Selby and Wilson hasn't been all that. Least it's 5 all.

    Lisowski is embarrassing himself today.
  • Comeback is on...
  • That was the worst second round ever, only one close game. Let's hope the quarters are closer.
  • O'Sullivan and Higgins just keep potting away after all these years ..  remarkable

Have to agree with what was shouted by the crowd (when you watch the clip). Genuinely makes me mad 😡
Was my mates dad who was sitting with me lol , lucky for them if he was further forward he might not have been so polite
  • F***ing protesters

If that cloth needs to be changed it ruins the whole schedule

Not to mention ruin it for everyone who bought a ticket for tonight

What does ruin a snooker table have to do with Oil FFS

Literally been off here all week, i was on that table. Absolute bar stewards, first time at crucible and was watching the other table from a distance, it was ok but really not the same. Lucky the crucible is smaller compared to other venues and only holds 900 so it wasn't too bad, however still really riles me these protesters. I don't condone violence but would have loved if they got a few kicks back stage after.

The whole thing was very good, we went along to the winter gardens and i had a go on the snooker table, was an easy challenge really but still people were feeding my ego as it was too easy (bare in mind i dont play snooker anymore) it was every pocket 2 reds and pot in the fewest attempts, i skill shot a few  so got ahead of the game, missed the black but then had a long black for 10 shots i nailed.

We were mostly drinking on the build up to the match and then the following day again from 10, ended up going to a couple of restaurants (BBQ place first night , Cosmos second) went to Sheffield FC which i wouldn't recommend as we had to get the train back as in the middle of nowhere but a new ground and the first to ever hold a match in UK apparently.

Crossed paths with a few, Steve Davis, Judd Trump, Hossein (haha expected Ronnie to beat him but not by that much) and a few others, Slessor

Been a great tourney so far, some nice shocks, i do think so far Ronnie has had a nice draw including Brecel.  Higgins is playing the best, although i have interest in Selby and Mcgill outright (66/1), still a long way to go.. well technically over half way so they say...
Ah so it was you!  Get off it and stop throwing things!!
  •  Brecel now leads O'Sullivan 11 frames to 10 after being 10-6 down.
  • O'Sullivan and Higgins just keep potting away after all these years ..  remarkable
both now playing either side of the 'iron curtain' and both struggling
  • Brecel wins 13-10
