Having to choose whether to go home or go to a club at 11 as the pubs all closed, then the decision being made for you as one of the group was wearing jeans or trainers.
  • Being driven around in the boot of the car
  • Filling up your car with fuel.
    Smashing back loads of pints.

Without thinking about how much it might cost.

And maybe even combining the two, smashing back loads of pints and driving home in your car you filled up and not worrying too much about breathalyser tests.
  • Doorstep milk deliveries. Glass pint milk bottles.

Oh and mum washing up the empty bottles to leave out overnight to be collected.

    Pound notes.

My mum still uses maps.  Despite having a mobile, and a sat nav sitting unused in the glove box.

And misses the turning without fail to end up about 10 miles away and turning back.
  • Tracing paper for toilet paper.
  • Teachers on post-match shower duty.
  • Texan bars of chocolate - superb

    Blue disabled cars

  • Lonely hearts adverts in newspapers.
  • Pulling out the choke
  • 3 gallons of 2 star
  • Typing pools. Photocopies on shiny paper you had to send off for and wait three days. Carbon paper.
  • The national anthem being played when the BBC closed down about 11.30 pm.
  • Recording songs off the radio via cassette
Putting Sellotape over the holes so you could record over a ‘read only’ cassette.

Buying metal TDK cassettes to show off.

Comparing how smooth the eject was on the cassette player compared to your mate’s one

fucking about randomly with a graphic equaliser that seemed to make no difference to the sound.

Waiting for the telly to warm up before you got a picture, then moving the aerial around the room to get a decent signal. And, when the set was playing up, thumping the top which always seemed to fix it.
