What doesn't help, as I've said before, is this constant switching between white and red ball. They really are different animals - the batsmen that can successfully adjust are kings.0 -
Try to get run out a couple of times there - just not communicating. Get a 4 off overthrows and the 50 is up0
-
50 up thanks to 4 "buzzers" from another mix up in running between Muyeye and Cox. The very same misunderstanding happens yet again next ball!!!0
-
First game for this one!4
-
You might find someone calls the RSPCC. Don't let on to anyone that you support Charlton too or they definitely will.5
-
Cox opts to play a neither up nor down pull rather than occupy the crease and hits it straight to the fielder on the boundary for 15. Brain dead cricket this morning from us. Not for the first time this season
72-5
Muyeye 37* (66)1 -
Muyeye out LBW for 38 (72) in the final over before lunch. Doesn't look the greatest of decisions either on height or because it might have hit him outside the line of off stump
77-6
Evison 4* (18)0 -
Was the decision to bat first today an informed one, AA ?0

Compton - got a good ball
Denly - head far too far over which forced him to play across his pads rather than down the ground
Finch - keeper stood up to the stumps for the first time that ball and I can't help thinking that had he been standing back then he wouldn't have played it
Leaning - run out by Muyeye
Cox - a shot that wasn't necessary and poorly executed too
Muyeye - missed a straight one but probably got a raw deal too
1 -
Evison gone now. Another shocker - wafting at a ball he should be getting nowhere near with the bat
88-70 - Sponsored links:

Qadri plays a bit of a nothing shot to cover and is caught
98-80 -
So we are basically playing for bowling points in this match now
Is there rain due this week ?0 -

Stewart and Quinn are playing Bazball or, should I say, the more appropriate Woodball - 26 runs in 3 overs to date0
-
Quinn out for 25 off 15 balls in a partnership with Stewart worth 40 off 25 balls
135-9
Stewart 27* (30)0 -
Arshdeep, first ball smashes a maximum1
-
Stewart reaches his 50 off 37 balls including 3 fours and 5 sixes
168-90 -
Stewart out for 50 (45)
171 all out albeit from an appalling 95-8
Arshdeep 7* (6)1 -
Our scores in the County Championship this season make extremely grim reading (in ascending order, all out unless indicated otherwise):
95
128
141
158
171
186
222
227-3
259-4
278
281
301
342-7
344

Our international 12 of players who have turned out for us this season and who weren't born in the UK (a bit top heavy on the bowling - Fred Klaassen, despite the name and the fact he plays for the Netherlands was actually born in Haywards Heath):
Muyeye (Zimbabwe)
Compton (South Africa)
George Linde (South Africa)
Grant Stewart (Australia)
Wes Agar (Australia)
Kane Richardson (Australia)
Hamidullah Qadri (Afghanistan)
Arafat Bhuiyan (Banglasdesh)
Matt Quinn (Australia)
Arshdeep Singh (India)
Nathan Gilchrist (Zimbabwe)
Michael Hogan (Australia)

Evison traps Davies LBW for 42. Davies might have got an inside edge but that evens things up for Muyeye's dismissal
69-1 off 18

77-1 off 21 overs at tea and Warwickshire are 94 behind. 32 overs remain in the day. The concern is that Warwickshire have a decent batting line up with the likes of Hain and Maxwell to come.1

This season we've batted three times against Warwickshire and been 5 down for 51, 72 & 82. Absolutely nothing wrong with this wicket. We are just a poor batting side - 5 tons from the whole team in 15 innings this season says it all0

155-2 at close. Warwickshire trail by 16. A poor day at the office.0

The concern is that we do go down, lose the better players (especially the younger ones) and then can't attract replacements of a decent standard from elsewhere. We also have the unwanted affect of franchise cricket and while Surrey can afford squads of 30 plus we simply cannot. And their 30 players will include ones that, like Notts, they hsce secured from the lower placed and poorer counties such as Tongue and Pennington from Worcestershire.
I suspect that this is all why Downton has chosen now to stand down. The landscape was a lot different six years ago when he was appointed.

A very honest assessment of the day from Matt Walker. He has previously protected the players but is saying it as it is:
