He hasn't but his average of 33.92 is still a lot better than Cox (27.91), Leaning (24.41), Billings (9.19) and Denly (4.00). In fact, Compton has 475 runs from 15 innings whereas Billings and Denly have between them 124 runs from 18 innings. 

 This is not based on any evidence rather than my memory but doesn't cox generally score more runs as the season progresses.

That is almost certainly the case but probably true of a lot of players who are better white ball than red ball batsmen - early season when wickets are slow they tend to play too far in front of them and once the wickets become harder and truer they can just hit through the line of the ball.

What doesn't help, as I've said before, is this constant switching between white and red ball. They really are different animals - the batsmen that can successfully adjust are kings. 

50 up thanks to 4 "buzzers" from another mix up in running between Muyeye and Cox. The very same misunderstanding happens yet again next ball!!!

You might find someone calls the RSPCC. Don't let on to anyone that you support Charlton too or they definitely will. 

Muyeye out LBW for 38 (72) in the final over before lunch. Doesn't look the greatest of decisions either on height or because it might have hit him outside the line of off stump

I'm not there but if we look at the wickets, in most cases, we really have no one else to blame other than ourselves:

Compton - got a good ball
Denly - head far too far over which forced him to play across his pads rather than down the ground
Finch - keeper stood up to the stumps for the first time that ball and I can't help thinking that had he been standing back then he wouldn't have played it
Leaning - run out by Muyeye
Cox - a shot that wasn't necessary and poorly executed too
Muyeye - missed a straight one but probably got a raw deal too

Qadri plays a bit of a nothing shot to cover and is caught

There is some due but, by virtue of our ineptitude with the bat, we could probably afford to lose a whole day's play and there would still be a result.

77-1 off 21 overs at tea and Warwickshire are 94 behind. 32 overs remain in the day. The concern is that Warwickshire have a decent batting line up with the likes of Hain and Maxwell to come.

Who do we point the finger to? Obvious answer would be Walker but you go through the team, who realistically are you wanting to get rid of to improve those stats? Leaning ? Denly has to be dropped but really not sure how we improve our batting line up unless we get rid of big named players and have a complete revamp 

There are a number of factors. It would be easy to blame Walker but I think we are now going through a period of change - three of  our established players have left us namely  Stevens, Robinson and Milnes, a few have  lost their form to varying degrees (Billings, Denly, Leaning and Cox) and one (Crawley) is always on England duty plus Gilchrist has been permanently injured. Had they all been available and on top form too and you then added to those an overseas match winner with the ball like a Henry or Milne and the team, all of a sudden, looks totally different.

The concern is that we do go down, lose the better players (especially the younger ones) and then can't attract replacements of a decent standard from elsewhere. We also have the unwanted affect of franchise cricket and while Surrey can afford squads of 30 plus we simply cannot. And their 30 players will include ones that, like Notts, they hsce secured from the lower placed and poorer counties such as Tongue and Pennington from Worcestershire.

I suspect that this is all why Downton has chosen now to stand down. The landscape was a lot different six years ago when he was appointed.
