I hadn't realised Hendo had retired, though with his injury record, not a surprise.0

Could it be a way of extracting money from the club? Holden was the Methven group's choice of manager and were probably instrumental in him being handed a 3 year deal, which will now have to be paid up.
As I said at the start, just a thought.
But your conspiracy theory is better. He gets a big pay off that they all share.
How cynical are we as a fan base that we would even think this.0 -

Wages, expenses, fees, consultancy - fuck knows what else.
THEY HAVE NOT PUT ANY MONEY INTO THE CLUB - they are a COST. Really important we remember that. I’d be surprised in CM was on anything less than 500k per year and that is why he is here. Thats also the game in town for SMT as they are all talentless chancers who are screwing the club.
If they were ANY good, why would they be with us?
As the Airman said, they will look busy in the eyes of the yanks. It will go on for as long as the yanks will cover running costs and when the money stops, then they will all be gone. Think of Farnell, Southall, Paul Elliott and all the other knobs that leech money out of football clubs.
This lot are no different - managerial chaos HELPS them screw more cash out of the club.
This lot are worse than all the previous owners combined, including that vile scumbag Roly.
This new ownership have in some cases a terrible reputation at other clubs, and now having dicked around in the window, have decided to sack THEIR manager before the end of August.
If you disagree with people not liking this ownership that is your right, but is it so much to ask that supporters are allowed to voice their opinions without fear of being shut down?0 -
We could do with someone like this. He knows his players and how to address them.

That was picked up by Holden, who foolishly believed that he would be backed in the transfer market. This did not happen. Cue disatisfaction, loss of hope from Holden and him losing the plot tactically, and having his weaknesses as a coach / manager exposed. The utter rubbish plan of Methven and the tall tale he told the investors is behind the current fiasco. That and the staggering incompetence and delusion of the plan. Cost cutting, playing and selling youth to reduce losses. The £1m to 2m losses plan, without any significant investment, in league one will take Charlton to League 2 and the National League. the bad things we were told about Methven and his pals is so far proving to be true.Ipswich had sustained and significant backing to get to the Championship. This is not what Charlton are getting currently. Why the hell did Methven bother - apart from the consultancy fees. What is the point ? The only way the plan works to sell the club for more in the championship. On Methven's cost cutting plan, even in a weakened league is just never going to happen. What manager or team is going to manage with the level of cost cutting by Methven ? Maybe at very best lower midtable to avoiding relegation. That is before any decent youngster is sold off. This is what Methven has brought Charlton to. Duchatelet will be happy with the diminishing of the football club. Closer to the day when there won't be a club at the Valley.
Still can't explain why he agreed to let Sandgaard lease it when he could have said no though can you. No one else has either who claim he wants us out.

It didn't take Ipswich 3 windows to get it right, it took the right manager.
Cook made a complete Horlicks of making a team out of the squad purchased, McKenna instantly transformed their fortunes even before the January window. When they stuffed us on the last day of the 21/22 season, they already had a promotion ready team.7 - Sponsored links:

I don’t believe Holden ever told the whole truth about he came to Charlton in the first place.I doubt we will learn the whole truth of his departure.6

The full back, and the one we have almost signed, are both "attacking full backs" as opposed to specialist wing backs.Plus Camara and Fraser have both played the best football of their careers in 3-5-2 set ups. Dabo and Edun have both played most of their careers as wing backs rather than full back at Coventry and Lincoln.
I think it is probably the best way to set us up, but I’m not sure why Holden stopped using Thomas at LCB when he’s the only play we have that can really play there. Should have been a priority signing this summer, maybe Holden wanted one but like with the striker he hasn’t got what he wanted1 -

(Charlton) Life can be so unfair at times

& if you believe that.................? What manager wouldn't want to increase his squad ? It wouldn't surprise me if he's been told that he can't sign anymore players until he's got rid of those he doesn't want. He's got two youngsters on the bench who shouldn't be anywhere near the first team squad, they should be out on loan. He's got two players on the bench who shouldn't be anywhere near our club. We sign players who aren't fit to play. What about our targets that supposedly are taking time but it's better to wait for them than to chase our second in line targets. What happens if our first choice targets fall through or even if we do finally sign them how long before they are ready to play. Top 6 my arse, this time next year we'll be having the same conversations just like last year :-(AndyG said:DH has gone on record saying he wanted to trim the squad down to a more manageable number. I wonder if now he has witnessed our injury curse he has changed his mind0 -
Let's hope we find a manager who can also play up front with May and fill in at right back when Assimwe's confidence is completely crushed.
Abject shambles.
Just hoping pink trousers sacks himself in the general confusion.6 -

Managing Charlton on the budget currently set have would be a proper test of Arteta's managerial ability.

I guarantee this forum will go into meltdown on Friday. It’s going to get very messy. Apologies to BigDiddy who is on the money.2

Hmm, I doubt that. His contract would've had to have been worth a fair chunk to make that worthwhile. I doubt Dean Holden is corrupt, & would prefer having a job, & not another sacking on his CV.3
