I don’t buy into the idea that Charlton is an unattractive job.
There are a tonne of managers out of work and it’s well-known to be a career notoriously difficult to get back into once you’ve been sacked or left a job.
Many coaches will also have big egos, and will believe they’re the man to turn the tanker around and return the club to where it should be.I think Jones is one of these. Humbled by his Saints experience and probably not being offered Championship gigs.5 -

I don’t really want the Cowley’s but we can never really understand the context of failures at various clubs. Look at Powell. Successful with us, failed at Huddersfield and Southend.2 -

I think it's either him, Cowley, Appleton or an outside shot of Bonner. I don't see it being anyone else tbh3 -
I'm hearing, Pawel Abbott in the mix.3

Mid table finish followed by being sacked in a relegation battle? Sounds shocking.
Add the other stuff in and it sounds mighty impressive, given the circumstances.
That's the problem with stats.9 -

It's because he's just a little bit thick. He lacks every skill set a decent manager needs. Inspirational qualities; tactical nous; luck; man management skills; leadership; and coaching skills. He has none of these in my opinion and have I mentioned that he is a dullard?
In addition, with his choice of cardigans, it would be impossible for any player to look at him and not laugh rather than take him seriously.

From talking to friends who have had the Cowleys at the helm of their club, I will be really disappointed if it is them we go with!I think back to the game with Huddersfield at home in our championship season and i thought their brand of football was absolutely shocking! I really hope it isn’t them! Journeymen!4

Also, how can you be a journeyman after managing just three clubs, one of which you managed for over 180 games?

recruitment has (so I've been told) been taken off of Jackson which frees up jackson to work on tactics, training etc. makes sense to me
They had decided to bring in fit more robust players that had a better past of no injuries. Maybe that is something we should take a leaf out of.0 - Sponsored links:

Haven’t read most of this thread but wouldn’t want Parker - not just because he did a Lyle Taylor on us but because he will probably be shit - what experience does he have of the division we r in ? Would be a nonsense appointment7

So a summary of todays posts
we can't go for Parker because he hasn't managed in the third tier
we can't go do cowley or Appleton because the third tier is their level28 -

In the reverse fixture, they stuffed us 4-0.
The idiots booed Karlan, who affected by the abuse only scored twice0 -

shocking!!
Mark Hudson is a manager mentioned by some because his Charlton links and I’d genuinely class his record as shocking:
P 18 w 4 l7 with Cardiff
win ratio 22%
Well, at least that’s what she told me 🤷♀️1 -

All being well I think Parker is a talented manger/ head coach. But even if he does come which I would view as unlikely, I don’t think the club is stable enough for Scott given his history and the way he left Fulham and Bournemouth with issues with transfer budget and ownership. Both after only a year or two.
If he had issues there he’ll surely have similar issues here. So while I would be tempted given club connections and ability, just don’t see it working and it’s be over quickly.
But on one level at least slightly more interesting than the Cowley option…
