    Stoke City have sacked Alex Neil as manager following Saturday's home defeat by Championship bottom club Sheffield Wednesday.
    The 42-year-old Scot spent 16 months in charge in the Potteries after leaving fellow Championship side Sunderland to join Stoke in August 2022.
    He led Stoke to 16th last season, a fall from the previous two campaigns, when they had each time finished 14th.
    But they have struggled this term and currently sit 20th in the table.

    The championship is like Dodge City at the moment. Lose a couple of games & fall down the table = sacked. Must be about half a dozen have gone in as many weeks.

    Since the season started 10 sides have changed their manager.

    Since the changes these are the league placings.

    Huddersfield. Manager sacked 16th, now 21st.
    Sheff Weds. Manager sacked 24th, now 23rd.
    Birmingham. Manager sacked 6th, now 17th.
    Millwall. Manager left (mutual consent) 15th, now 19th.
    QPR. Manager sacked 23rd, now 22nd.
    Bristol City. Manager sacked 15th, now 14th.
    Rotherham. Manager sacked 22nd, now bottom.
    Swansea. Manager sacked 18th, now 16th - interim manager only 1 game.
    Sunderland. Manager sacked 9th, now 6th - interim manager only 1 game.
    Stoke. Managed sacked today.

    So overall not a great deal of improvement, with of course Birmingham being the most ridiculous.

    The QPR and Stoke sackings were relatively justifiable, when you look how poor they've been on the field, and realistic expectations.

    Huddersfield and Millwall were funny ones, as they weren't the usual - "we're losing and need to bring in someone to improve the results" type sackings. More looking for a new direction type changes.

    Birmingham was bonkers, Sunderland massively harsh. 

    Rotherham a bit pointless, as they're the worst team in the division.

    Duff at Swansea was the wrong appointment, ditto Munoz at Wednesday

    The 43-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the Stadium of Light.

    Blimey! Tough one for Plymouth.

    Could be an excellent move by Stoke, put a relegation rival right down there and have a top coach along the way. 

    Plymouth recovered excellently last time this happened, wonder who they'll go for this time

    Stoke's recent record, when it comes to "poaching" managers hasn't been great.

    Both Nathan Jones and Alex Neill flopped at Stoke after success elsewhere, so a bit of a risk for Schumacher.

    Schumacher's former boss at Plymouth might be available for a Plymouth return if Preston sack Ryan Lowe...

    Warnock lives down that way, used to manage them as well if I'm not mistaken.

    Did an amazing job to get Sutton promoted. Not sure what went wrong this season, as they've been very poor.

    Nuno Espírito Santo incoming (always feels like I’m saying mass when I say his name aloud)

    I mean, I find it hard to look at Cooper, but I do rate him as a manager.

    I hope Forest sink like a stone quite frankly.

    Couldn't agree more.
    What Cooper achieved at Forest was remarkable and I'm certain he would have kept them up this season.
    Hope they go down now, unless it's between them and Palace.
