I honestly wouldn’t spend much in January unless there was someone amazing available who’ll be snapped up. More players, and much better value, to be had in the summer window.

This season’s over, no point throwing good money after bad. If there’s money available then I would invest it in the summer when it’ll go further.
Personally I think it’s the perfect time to plan for next season. Look at Ipswich 2 years ago, they spent the second half of that season preparing for a promotion campaign, setting a pattern of play etc. when we went there and got humped 4-0, I remember saying this lot are ready for next year and will go up. Start now for next season …

I disagree. Whilst this season is likely over already, a few good signings could see us pick up some good results in the second half of the season and carry some momentum into next season.

A team finishing the season on a bit of a charge and getting a higher placed finish is also likely to attract better quality players in the summer than a side who plodded to 16th.
We should certainly see the rest of this season as a building block for next season.
But didn't we say that last season, and possibly the one before?
  • Well, you've talked the talk, Andy, now it's time to walk the walk.

Yes, the fans can see it but the people who run the club are so far up their own arses, they no better. And that goes beyond the current lot. If we are going to keep Appleton next season fair enough but I suspect he will be sacked at the end of the season and the cycle repeats. Judge me by actions not words, just meaningless words as far as I can see.

Scott needs to step up to the plate this window, so far he's been an abject failure!
He talks a good game...but no delivery at all! If this window is as bad as others...he needs to be gone by 2/2/24...no more excuses or platitudes.....time to earn your dosh mate!

That is what he should be saying. He should accept it hasn't been good enough and say he will be trying to make it better in this window. That is surely focusing on actions above pointless words. Put some real pressure on yourself Scott, and back yourself. Whatever we think about Appleton, we have to acknowledge that he has his work cut out with this squad. If there is a tension between him and the manager, that is a ridiculous situation and promises only more of the same crap.

As he is Appletons boss good management would be to come out and take the blame.

Ultimately Andy said he'll hold his hands up if we're not challenging - if we're not competitive.

Let's see if he's a man of his word.

Scott should have gone when Appleton went but this summer how many of the 11 players that have come in was his recommendations?

Bar Dixon I would have said they were all on Jones.

True but he was also responsible for making Dobson unsettled enough approaching the window that he calls his agent and hears a fucking fairy tale about a country his agent wouldnt find on the map even if you gave him half an hour and the promise of a new Rolex if he succeeded.

While the recruitment may have been on Jones, it’s Scott who will negotiate contracts. Yes we’ve got some youngsters tied down but some of our current squad are over paid and the Dobson situation was clearly a fiasco

Would love to see a list of what players are on what but I’ve got a felling that would be difficult to find

Should have been sacked with Appleton if there was any accountability at management level

    Yes fair enough.

  • I believe there’s been a bit of a power struggle about summer recruitment, Jones has hinted as much. Ahadme feels like a Scott pick. Any talented manager will be put off by the dodgy duo of Methven and Scott, we saw that with the amount of people who turned us down before Appleton’s appointment. Until they go we will only attract journeymen (like Appleton) or mad men (like Jones).

It's time for Scott, Charlieboy, and Rodwell to go. The 'owners' need to get in an experienced DoF and back him and Jones in January!
The 3 mentioned above are nicking a living and screwing up at every turn!

Yep. Wonder what he'd have to say if questioned about how well Dobbo is doing and how much he obviously didnt rate him. Chancer.
  • Him and the other two clowns publically will not hold their hands up and admit to failing.

Said it from the first second they got here that they were chancers, they've done nothing since to prove otherwise. I got the same vibe from them that I got from Matt Southall and his cronies.

I actually want to hear from the real owners now. As I want to hear what their plans are from their own mouth, and I want to know how they were so naive to get people involved who fail so very frequently within the football world.

I'm not sure they could answer that question. It's increasingly obvious that Methven is their connection to football and he's then suggested Scott and Rodwell. The current structure has a lack of accountability as they can always spin it as not their fault

You are almost certainly correct mate the owners are not likely to make any public statements however I suspect they are asking some serious questions in private! They are approx £30m light and there investment it could be argued is in a worse condition than when they started in terms of results. The people responsible for that will need to be convincing in their justifications. People with a lot of money are rarely people who can’t see through bullshit when it comes to money

Perhaps Carter can shed some light on plans, afterall, as I understand it, he's not part of the SMT, but a minority owner and an actual supporter. However I'd be happy to see the end of the current SMT ASAP.
