[cite]Posted By: T[/cite]No chance for the follow on, Bat them out of the game as you really don't want to be chasing any total over 150 on this pitch batting 4th.

Completely agree, get back in and set them 450-500 to win off the last 2 days.

No way England will get 300 again on that wicket. A lead of 350 would be very handy indeed.

Ketman said "Can see Australia piling on the runs when they get in, England's first innings showing would suggest we'll do well to escape with a draw this test. "

    this session....23 overs, 70 runs, 8 wickets !!!!!
  • I wonder if the media will be as keen to rip into the Aussies for batting like lemmings and losing eight wickets in a session as they were with us when we lost eight wickets in a day?

    Being serious 300 is enough!

I've kept my eyes off the screen all afternoon and we took 8 wickets!

It's pretty easy though when you don't have a telly.

Want one of these tossers out soon really - and then try to get through to COP without losing any wickets ourselves

    Lovely old job!
  • Well done Freddie, a lead of 172.
  • Well done lads. Let's hope we get a lead that they won' be able to bat out or catch. I have a feeling this still might be tighter than we think though as it is England after all.

Maybe, but there is no way I'd be swapping positions.

England are effectively 172/0 and on this track a day's careful accumulation of runs will be enough. I can't see the pitch improving and I certainly wouldn't want to bat last on it.

Oh agreed 100%, just don't want to get overconfident considering it's England we're talking about.

    .........

England could screw this up, but would seriously have to be AO for around 100 to give the Australians any chance. On the evidence of the way the pitch is playing I'd take a slow, boring 200/250 and set a total of 400 plus and aim to bat for as long as possible. With three plus days to go there is no need to bat quickly.
  • Here we go...........
    ;-(
  • Yep, but 199/1 looks much better...and the pitch claims another, they have to bat last on this and it won't suddenly become a batsman's paradise.
  • Point taken.
    ;-)
  • That Marcus North is bowling ahead of Mitchell Johnson and Stuart Clark shows how badly the Aussies have screwed up not picking a specialist spinner.
