Replace Red Red Robin??

Thought I would tweet out to see people’s thoughts on this. The last couple weeks/ months I’ve seen a handful of fans say they’d replace Red Red Robin with something else prior to kickoff to get the place right up for it.
Me personally would like to keep it for when the players walk out, once they’ve done that maybe have something else just before they kick off, for example north london forever for arsenal, hi ho sheff wednesday.
Thoughts?

To get the place right up for it, you need fans that are right up for it and a team that gets them right up for it.Not different entry music. Not drums. Not public address announcements. (Beer might help though).15

Yeah this is true, just thought i’d put the question out there because of the amount of people saying we should change itkentred2 said:To get the place right up for it, you need fans that are right up for it and a team that gets them right up for it.Not different entry music. I find the older I get, the more I love it. Sing it with gusto every game. It’s been a constant theme in my life since I started going as a kid 40 years ago and can get me quite emotional at times.I know the modern thing these days is that everything not fashionable or current is ‘cringe’ or whatever, but RRR to me is Charlton Athletic and The Valley. And I love it.96

By no means am I suggesting to change it at all. I’m just putting the question out there from the conversations I’ve heard and some posts I’ve readjimmymelrose said:New member suggests a change to traditions.

Red Red Robin is an essential part of the experience. I dearly wish those who sing other things over it would have the good grace to shut up for one minute.15

Taught my 2 year old daughter it, we sing it every night as she goes to sleep. It’s part of Charltons DNA.36

Absolutely 100% not7

Not this again…..
I remember seeing Keith Peacock running out to the RRR in the 1970s and the continuity with being able to stand in that same space and hear RRR as the current crop of players run out before a game is massively powerful. As Sandgaard found out, you mess with this at your peril…24 -
If there's a better song; if there's a better anthem; if there's a piece of music or verbal rhetoric that would stir the emotion, and bring forward better memories of decades past, of glorious victories, valiant failures, camaraderie, bonding, shared delight and distraught; if there's a better poem, piece of prose or Morse code signal; if there is a better sound to play as the players walk out, then yes, change it.
Thankfully, there isn't; and there never will be.10 -

Everton run out to the theme from bloody Z Cars, and you never see them struggl... oh, er hang on...1

Liverpool run out to an Everton fan's song.0

North London forever works well as the team get into a huddle, and a few seconds before kick off, but RRR is wonderful and is our song0

Never change RRR6

If you want the fans to be more vocal at the start. Then turn down the speaker system no can hear any thing other than that blaring out.2

You absolutely are suggesting it and sadly just to get a few clicks/likes/hits on your vlogs or whatever.TomArchYT said:

Otherwise why run a poll, that was vastly against, and then post the result on here.
Charlton play at the Valley, they play in red and white, they are nicknamed the Addicks and they run out to Red, Red, Robin.
The rest can be changed but these four are non-negotiable.
Sandgaard changed it briefly to "Addicks to Victory" it made no positive difference to the results or atmosphere.
We ran out to RRR in the premier league and when we got promoted under Nelson, Bailey, Lawrence, Curbs, Powell and Bowyer.
Playing it is no hinderence to success.
Not having decent players or a managers is what causes losing games, not ignoring our history and tradition which in hard times like now is more important than ever.
