Given that the entire population of the town is only around 45,000 and the County Borough 135,000, that seems rather optimistic.
I can’t see Alfie May leaving over the summer. If he did, we’d have been shorn of our 3 best players last season, following the sale of CBT in January and Dobbo’s imminent departure to Hungary.2 -
I'd forgotten Ahadme was at Ipswich now (don't think he's played for them yet). The way Ipswich have stockpiled lower-league talent and succeeded in the Championship is very impressive. If they go up (and probably even if they don't), I expect a fair few of their players will be available in the summer either on loan or for fees. GA and El Mouzini are two intriguing ones. That longwijk looked pretty good as did their other centre back.
Longwijk started 9 games for Wycombe and still managed as many clean sheets as we did in 46 games.
Worth remembering though that he wasn’t an automatic choice for a promotion side in Plymouth last season.
Compared to a bloke we’ve already seen in Charlton colours:
Gillesphey 35 apps (29 starts), Lonwijk 35 apps (28 starts)…0 -

Exactly the type of player we should be looking at and for Jones to make into what he wants. Tall, strong, good experience, won promotion already, ticks a lot of boxes.
He may have started only 28, but they picked up 59 points from those, conceding 32 and keeping 9 clean sheets. Not bad for a 20 year old at the time.9 -

I think you're probably right and I'm probably being overly cynical. In Jones we trust for now at least - the released players list seems to show good signs so hopefully there are equally good signs when players start to come in.0

Well perhaps but yet another proven to be lying ownership and more on the pitch failure would see the crowds plummet. I don’t think some people realise the thickness of the ice we’ve been skating on. We’re losing unsustainable amounts of money every season and have no collateral that gives substance to the club. Sooner or later a club of Charltons stature is going to go pop. I’d suggest that unless we really are now at the beginning of an upward curve, that CAFC are well placed to be a club that ultimately fails.cafcfan1990 said:
