I’d be underwhelmed if I was a Barnsley fan..MarcusH26 said:killerandflash said:
When he took over after 10 games, they had one point and had scored ZERO goals, and were a basket case. To end up relegated by just 2 points was a great achievement.Todds_right_hook said:
Is getting a team relegated classed as half decent these days?killerandflash said:
It's so difficult to have any sort of stability at a smaller club, as anytime a manager does a half decent job they jump shipMarcusH26 said:
Think with the amount of key players they're losing too I can completely understand Clarke leaving and taking a chance on being able to get something out of a Barnsley side that never seems to quite be able to get over the line.
He did a brilliant job to get Cheltenham even close to staying up.
Yeah does feel like a bit of an odd appointment from their end. Obviously Duff went to Huddersfield0 -
Rooney to Plymouth confirmed3

Kompany off to Bayern. He seemed tactically quite naive in the Premier league, be interesting to see how he gets on0
-
Looked good at Burnley when he had better players than his opponents, but no plan B in the Premier League against better opponents. Ben Garner was a bit similar, his Swindon side with very good players looked good, but he has failed elsewhere.siblers said:Kompany off to Bayern. Kompany might be one of those managers better suited to getting the most out of top players, rather than managing strugglers, but it's a bizarre leap from getting relegated with a pathetic 24 points - and Burnley weren't relegation favourites last summer - and going on to manage one of the greats of world football.2 -
The Kompany appointment is bizarre. Feels like he's got the job because of a good agent and the fact he already speaks German.
Absolutely no idea how finishing 3rd and 4th in the league and losing a cup final with Anderlecht, and winning the Championship with Burnley, gets you the Bayern job.

Kompany to Bayern is madness on the face of it. However, if he is to be successful and win the league and get them playing good football, you can bet that he’d be a shoe in for the Man City job when Pep calls it a day.0
-
It’s just part of the global conspiracy to prevent Kane ever winning a trophy9
-
Kompany likes his teams to play out from the back, passing, moving, to play quite expansive football. His Burnley side last season lacked top quality players and was unable to play as he wanted.
It seems he wouldn't drop his stylist principles and wasn't prepared to do a Luton and to allow his team to go down spitting and scratching. Principles in football can all too often lead to a bad outcome lol
The German league is nowhere as strong as the Prem, Bayern like to play pure, attacking football, the game as it should be played,
and will have money to spend on players. I doubt they will have another bad season like the last one.
IF IF Kompany is to succeed as a manager he'll never have a better opportunity.
I reckon he'll be OK. As ever, we will see.2 -

Chelsea talking to Leicester's Maresca! No Prem League experience! But will he have the nous to manage or Head Coach this basket case of a club.
Might as well put out feelers for his mid season replacement, whilst he needs to be considering what he will do once his management career is over .. could ask Graham Potter.0 -
The Pep effect in full swing. Kompany going to Bayern and Maresca going to Chelsea.
Feels like Bayern and Chelsea have seen what Arteta has done at Arsenal and thought 'we'll try that as well'. The problem is (with Chelsea in particular) will the managers be given the time that Arteta had to get things going? Seems unlikely.

The concern with Maresca is the cliff that Leicester fell off at the end of the season.Chris_from_Sidcup said:The Pep effect in full swing. Kompany going to Bayern and Maresca going to Chelsea.

Bayern Munich have appointed Vincent Kompany as their new head coach on a three-year deal.
The Belgian, 38, succeeds Thomas Tuchel and leaves Burnley for the Bundesliga side after the two clubs agreed a compensation fee, believed to be £10.2m.

Be interesting to see how he does... In some regard you need to look past what he failed to achieve with Burnley in the Premier League, given the players available to play the way that he wanted - Could equally be a big risk from Bayern though.0
-
It's a crazy appointment though really. Manager relegated to the championship gets a job at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
If it happened on Football Manager you'd say the games AI was fucked.1 -

Will be interesting to see if it's another young " head coach" at Burnley such as internally promoting Craig Bellamy or if they go for experience and try to bounce straight back.0

Kennedy is the 4th permanent manager since Garner left.3 -
He did a good job at Lincoln, especially recruiting several players straight from Irish football, he is a good judge of a 'lower league player', he also worked for Bowyer at Brum amongst other roles.clive said:Swindon Town have appointed former Lincoln City boss Mark Kennedy as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

Lincoln sacked him over a non specified incident despite his good record. He should do a good job at Swindon, another club which always seems to under perform1 -
