Graham Potter looking set to be named the next Leicester Manager
Could be a minor blow to the FA if Southgate leaves in a few weeks.
Wonder if the FA might go for Steve Cooper if that happens, won the u17 tournament with a few of the current squad etc.
I'd prefer either Carsley or Cooper like you say, both have experience already working within an International setup, and both have had success
The former will have worked with a few of the squad potentially, like you say - Whilst Carsley will no doubt promote some of his successful U21 stars in the coming years.
One cannot underestimate the lack of quality and how much they are missing the influence of Bale and Ramsey - 195 caps, 62 goals and countless assists between them too. How many of their current squad would get in the England squad as Bale and Ramsey would have done? How many are regulars in the PL? Brennan Johnson, Harry Wilson, Chris Mepham and who else? How many others are even at clubs in the PL? Their keeper, Danny Ward, played 9 games for Wales last season but had zero minutes for his club, Leicester, in the Championship. That says it all.
Yes they only drew with Gibraltar but their last game defeat to Slovakia who England narrowly beat (and Johnson was the only PL footballer to start) was their only loss in their last 10 matches. Seriously, what do they expect?
The Wales job isn't that attractive now. I can't see any established Welsh managers being interested, so it makes sense for it to go to someone in their first job.

Also think that he waited first to see if he'd get the Burnley job - says something if a Championship job is more attractive than your national team.
Suspects that moves a few of us from the 'wanting them to win' camp to wanting to see them lose!!
Having read some of the stuff he's done, the charity work, the setting up of a football academy in Africa spending over 1m of his own money, as well as the depression and the bankruptcy, i kind of feel like he's not as bad as he was made out to be.
By all accounts he was a difficult player to manage though, so i get why people wouldn't warm to him.

Craig Bellamy attacked his Liverpool team mate John Arne Riise with an 8 iron when he was drunk when in Portugal in 2007 and has tried to turn it into a joke for his book and podcasts. Bellamy said he did it because Riise cheated at Golf and wouldn't sing a karaoke song ! Bellamy mixed clinical depression and Alcohol and that leads to harm either to self or others.
John Arne Riise version is it could have finished his career as he was trying to hit his shins.
I thought Wales might try to turn over a new page with this appointment after Ryan sleep with the SIL Giggs controversy and the court case with a later girl friend.

Great time to do it to be fair, results these last few weeks have been shocking... They've been no where to be seen in games

There's your playoff winners after Parker makes another very expensive squad that should romp the league incredibly boring to watch.
