Cheeky fucker couldn't get the gig at Chelsea, BM or Brighton so thought he'd better take what was on offer before they looked elsewhere.

Yes, a weirdly worded statement, as if a manager had left them during the season or even in the middle of pre-season training. Plus neither of them will be responsible for transfer decisions either.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Not surprised he is staying, as would have been strange not to give it a go with Ipswich in Premier League after the two seasons they have just enjoyed.clive said:Ipswich Town is delighted to announce that Manager Kieran McKenna has signed a new four-year contract with the Club.
https://www.itfc.co.uk/news/2024/may/30/kieran-mckenna-signs-new-four-year-deal/Four year contract seems pointless these days though, they will either sack him if Ipswich explode or he will be poached if they have another brilliant season.0 -
Great to see. I hope they continue to do well. How boring is it to see the same three or four yo yo between the Prem and Championship every season? Southampton and Leicester back again this time…so dull.clive said:Ipswich Town is delighted to announce that Manager Kieran McKenna has signed a new four-year contract with the Club.

Smart move, continues his work with Ipswich and gets to test himself in the Prem with lower expectations, does well and his stock will rise greatly .0 -
So you think if Chelsea had offered him a 4 year contract he would have stayed at Ipswich ? More chance on Chuks playing 90 mins on August 7th than that.Leuth said:

'he thought he'd better take what was on offer before they looked elsewhere' - yes, Ipswich really were poised to fire Kieran McKenna. Yesgolfaddick said:

Also, how do we know he ultimately wanted those jobs, even those he had initial talks with?1

Well he spoke with Chelsea and you'd assume he aspires to manage at the highest level he can and win trophies, manage in Europe etc, which he obviously has a much greater chance of doing with Chelsea than with Ipswich.Leuth said:Also, how do we know he ultimately wanted those jobs, even those he had initial talks with?
Sky reported that he was in the running until he was notified that Chelsea were going with Maresca, so it's not as if he met with them and then said no thanks.
In any case i do think it's the best decision for him. Continue what he started with Ipswich and potentially then look to get the Man U job if/when Ten Hag goes.0 -
Think all of this has to be taken with a pinch of salt. If Chelsea had gone for Maresca without talking to Mckenna their fans would have been annoyed. Chelsea get to say they passed on him, he gets a payrise and to avoid a poisoned chalice. A decent year at Ipswich in the Prem will do more good for his career than a spell at Chelsea right now. Brighton could have been a good fit potentially but I can see why he'd want to stay put.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

FOLLOWING the LMA's statement confirming Martin Paterson's departure from Burton Albion, the club can release the following.
Manager Martin Paterson has left Burton Albion following the expiry of his short-term contract.Paterson joined the Brewers in January after Gary Mills had acted as caretaker manager following the departure of Dino Maamria, and the former Northern Ireland striker will now look to take on new challenges.

Barrow have appointed Stephen Clemence as head coach on a two-year contract. Not sure that's an obvious step up on the sacked Pete Wild.

Like Moyes at Man Utd that contract will still be going when Maresca has moved on a couple of times.killerandflash said:
