Was at the Valley today for a meeting. Pitch looks excellent
I feel sorry for the poor bloke with the mower. He must be knackered.

Have to say it looks lovely - loving watching cricket at the moment, but that green pitch with the red seated stadium, I’m yearning for The Valley

Maybe with the new pitch we can get a cricket square on it for next year.

Pretty sure that's Scott Fraser with the mower covering more yards cutting the pitch than in the while of last season 😂

Looks like someone in the Lower Covered End left their flag there over the summer!

Somehow they created a thing of beauty in the Valley which other teams just can't emulate.

Its all the manure played on the pitch when we play each game.

definitely looks like it's been narrowed, that's a far wider black strip in front of the dugouts, also looked similar in front of the AC stand

First thing I also thought when I saw it.
    Deffo more narrow

Guess narrow suits Jones style of play, less ground to cover when pressing etc

  • It’s now back to its original size, bob peters wanted it wider when roland relayed it.

Surely if he wanted a narrower pitch they'd just make the markings narrower rather than build a narrower infrastructure that restricts future changes.  More likely that the images are deceptive.

If it were my club, they'd be a redgra pitch surround.

Whole pitch looks a fair bit smaller. AstroTurf surrounds definitely a lot bigger than before both down the sides and behind the goal

guessing that’s intentional and probably at NJ’s request

I don't think it's that much bigger than before actually, especially if they paint the line right along the edge like before

I’m hoping they won’t put the badge back in the astroturf. Don’t like the opposition, or anyone, walking all over it. Put it anywhere but on the ground.

Similar to the memorial bricks outside the west stand, you have a brick to remember someone and it's walked over, why not have it on a wall.

Isn't it just that the advertising boards aren't there, making the astroturf look wider?

And I think they moved the stands back about 5 ft.

Must say, that white sealant work around the pitch makes my one time pathetic attempt to seal the gap between the bath and the tiling look pretty professional in comparison.

Must say that with the first match being played on 3rd August against Portsmouth, the pitch don't look all that impressive in some of those shots, hopefully it is quick growing...🤞
However, The Valley always looks great...

All in all looks like we have been given a proper glow up. Many thanks to the owners for the investment, it is easy to take for granted, but when you travel the country and see water pouring through our oppo club’s stands’ roofs etc and despite looking great from the outside needing repair inside, appears to prove that the current owners do want to get things right on every front 👏👏👏👏 Thank you for the photos @Henry Irving

Grass grows very quickly this time a year. Having to cut my lawn twice a week at present. With the attention and equipment lavished on The Valley pitch I’m convinced it’ll look stunning.
