👏🏼Good research Len.
11 golds from 10 women.
So from 1896 to 1964 when Packer won the 800m and Rand won the long jump in Tokyo no Gold medal for GB women.
Different time and all amateurs.1 -
True. She was banned for missing three tests that would have confirmed if she was taking drugs.LenGlover said:
Take and understand your point but she missed drug tests (a la Rio Ferdinand in football some years back) and was not banned for actually taking drugs.SuedeAdidas said:Always seems strange to me how CO’s drug ban hardly ever gets a mentionIt still hardly ever gets mentioned though.2 -
Just assume everyone is microdosing because it's probably true and will help you care less about who is cheating.SuedeAdidas said:Always seems strange to me how CO’s drug ban hardly ever gets a mention1 -
Also for the men the 4*100 relay in 2004.0

So let me get this right.SELR_addicks said:

Depends what you mean by 'drug cheat'.SuedeAdidas said:

Are they steroided up to the gills anymore? Probably not.
Are they microdosing and cycling on/off in lead up to major events? Happens in every single sport.
If they're doing it safely and are healthy who cares.1 -
A good evening's watching tonight with the cycling and the athletics and the weird water thing. Realised that I missed the climbing, so will try to see that tomorrow. I'm old but I like lots of these new fast activities that have been introduced.0

All those who aren’t doing it?SELR_addicks said:

When the people administering the tests don't care, what chance do you have?MrOneLung said:

Probably because she quite likely wasn't taking drugs, which subsequent reports pretty much confirm.SuedeAdidas said:Always seems strange to me how CO’s drug ban hardly ever gets a mention
"Crucially, the report states that Ohuruogu twice tested negative in July 2006 - the same month as the third missed test that led to her ban."
Personally i don't see how you can be so careless to miss three tests, but i don't think she's a drug cheat.0 -

Women have only been allowed to compete in athletics in the Olympics since 1928. So GB women could not have won medals in track and field for the first eight Olympiads.Raith_C_Chattonell said:

Gutted that a brilliant book I had on every Olympic games since 1896 went missing as I had so much information, without having to Google !
Laura Muir, a stalwart of the GB team with a silver in Tokyo after being 7th in Rio over 3 Olympics ran comfortably to Qualify in the 1500m 1st round
Georgia Bell ran well to Qualify in heat 2, 1500m
Reeve Walcott-Nolan GB in heat 3 who is a tall runner unfortunately failed to qualify.

Saw an article on it and the rules were pretty tough (as they should be tbh), basically putting in where you'll be for at least an hour a day up to 3 months in advance, so I wonder if she changed plans etc and didn't update it.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

But frankly, if my career and reputation depended on updating it, I'd make damn well sure I updated it.
3 times was either very careless or very dodgy.0 -
I thought a lot of people used performance enhancers in the past but got away with it.
The Irish swimmer Michelle Smith reportedly used to put a whisky soaked finger into her wee wee when tracked down for a random test in order to confuse the results. I used to also think that amongst others Steve Cram was as dodgy as they come and he makes a living as a commentator.3 -

Why ?
The most controversial thing that the leading Commentator for the BBC has done was to leave his wife to live with Curbishley ! a couple of decades ago.
A silver medalist in Olympics and WC Gold medal winner but I can't see any thing dodgy ?
The Jarrow arrow is a Sunderland fan and created a charity in East Africa for kids so seems a decent man.
Dodgy hair as a youngster but didn't we all.

I would've thought it was obvious why they are "wary" of him. Doesn't need an actual reason based on any facts.soapboxsam said:seth plum said:I thought a lot of people used performance enhancers in the past but got away with it.

It (my guesswork) was based around what enhancers around at that time reportedly used to do to the body, especially the condition of the skin.soapboxsam said:seth plum said:I thought a lot of people used performance enhancers in the past but got away with it.

I am happy to be wrong, because Cram is one of the better commentators.3 -

Here's a clue: Cram is white. Therefore Seth is naturally wary of him. It's a simple as that. Doesn't need a reason. "Guesswork" is enough, apparently.killerandflash said:

I explained my reasons, but as is your usual habit you want to distort things and personalise.Off_it said:

Why don’t you focus on your ‘New Bird on Countdown’ thread instead of concentrating on me?0 -
No luck on the horses today 😟
That's it from them, until we see the unfortunates used for the Modern Pentathlon for the last time as they will be replaced by an obstacle course for the athletes to negotiate in 2028. Hopefully we won't see a repeat of the mistreatment of Saint Boy that ultimately did for Annika Schleu in Tokyo 🙄

You explained your "reasons" as "guesswork". No distortion there from me.
So I would suggest you need to focus on the words "Defamation" and "libel".0 -
Call your lawyer then.0
