Along with the bikes, the rowers, the clay shooter & the equestrian there have been Gold medals there for the taking & for one reason or another its slipped from our grasp.
How much better the medal table would look with 4 or 5 more Golds.
(because we all know Gold is everything...😉)
Could of easily gone a lot worse or another day 2 strides better.
The woman, (Rutter), in the shooting was a tad unlucky she did hit the skeet but the judges disagreed and her opponent obviously didn't see it.
The BMX girl got her tactics wrong for the final after being clearly the best.
Winning means nothing if too easy.
In the semifinals, the top two won all 3 of their races, it then went to the fastest time.
So, she was ranked 2nd going into the final.0 -
Can KJT finally win a medal at her nemesis: the Olympic games ?
This is Katrina's 4th Olympics since she was a 19 year old in 2012 and she still haven't won a medal despite winning two Golds in the Heptathlon at World champs and even beating Nafi Thiam in Doha in 2019 for the 1st and last time in an Olympics or WC.
KJT has a narrow lead and they are both good long Jumpers so there won't be much in it with 2 disciplines left.
The Javelin will be where Thiam takes the lead again and then all on the last event the 800m where Kat has a 5 second better PB than Nafi.
Anna Hall has a 3 second better PB than KJT so should be an exciting finish to the 7 events as she is a good long jumper as well.
A medal for Kat if she stays fit today but which one is still up for grabs.

Are there rules about the dimensions of batons in the relays?
I sometimes think carrying something else might be more entertaining, but then you couldn’t compare times with times in previous years.
How about eggs on spoons, or cauliflowers, or fierce cats?1 -

Not sure the fierce cats is a goer.1 -

Not sure the fierce cats is a goer.
The cats could be allocated like horses in the modern pentathlon, then again it would torment the poor things.
Maybe sleeping cats, and you lose if they wake up.0 -

Cats don’t feature enough in the Olympics, although Alex Yee is a Lewisham lad, one nation under the Catford Cat.1

Nadeem threw 92.97 Metres in the javelin. With distances creeping up I wonder if they'll have to move the centre of gravity again.
(It was moved forward 4 cm in 1986 as they were worried that the stadiums were not big enough).0 -

I would like KJT to win the gold obviously but, given all her previous Olympic traumas, I just hope she can actually get a medal of whatever hue.4

Agree.
She looked really happy and extrovert in the 4 events yesterday but was back to looking tense and introvert in the long jump and Javelin this morning.

She has to win the 800 metres by 8 seconds from the woman who is leading.
That's about 50 metres, a tough ask.0 -

massive advantage to Thiam obviously. the one thing kjt has going for her if she wants to go for gold is she has the perfect pacemaker. It would be the run of her life but if she can stick with Hall it should just be enough1

The other Brit competitor needs to accidentally trip Thiam up in the 800m2
-
Currently have a climber in the medals, all depends how far he goes and how far the final guy after him goes0

Japanese lad described as 'part octopus'
Love it.
So GB has 2 in top 6 of bouldering, but no speed climbers? Odd.
Looks like a great community of climbers. Just like the skateboarders.0 -
And it's gold!!5

Gold for our climber!0

Scared the shit out of the dog cheering when he fell then!4

Don't know what it's like watching the climbing, but I'm a nervous wreck just from following the BBC text updates.
Finally we benefit from an overwhelming favorite finishing second not first!1 -
Grip strength of those climbers is insane. Holding their whole bodyweight with 2 fingers at times. Our guy still doesn't look like he can believe he has won it 5 minutes later!1

That was amazing0
