Not played any minutes in pre season so far. Is there an injury issue or just not in Jones’s plans for this coming season?

I disagree @DubaiCAFC I don't think his been given a fair crack tbh under Jones or Appleton. Kid was fantastic under holden up until he had that injury. A loan away and a run of games I think we'd have got that Ness back. Feel it's one we will regret long term but it certainly looks like his off

Ness reminds me a little of Albie Morgan.

There’s something there but it’s all a bit too easy for him here. He needs to be taken out of his comfort zone and a new environment will help him kick on.

Good luck to him, but like Albie he’s not what we need right now.

Richard Cawley has confirmed that he had recent ankle surgery  and is not yet fit.

Whilst I think this is the correct decision, it would not surprise me if he plays at a higher level in the future.

Best wishes. A decent season in L2 is what he needs at this stage, it might be his real level, or with games he might be able to rise back to L1.

That’s a good move for ‘Elliott’. Wish him all the best

Shame it’s not worked out, thought he had a lot of potential. Wish him well.
  • Sorry to see you go, Lucas.

Really hope this move is what you wanted & that your career goes from strength to strength now.

Good move for him. I think County will be impressed with him, once he's settled in.
  • Shame to see him go. but not surprised as never really found his form after that injury.

I imagine he's not gone for anything, but I'd hope we've put something in there like a buy back or sell on fee

Wont be surprised if he career manages to go forward again, and hope we can benefit from it still

Good luck to him and not just because we have a sell on clause in the deal.

If he rediscovers his earlier form he'll be a real asset to County.

Lovely... Good job whoever negotiated that

Notts County has paid a transfer fee for him (undisclosed, naturally)

Signed on a 3 year contract + 1 year option.

    Obviously highly rated by County.

Surprised by this hardly featured .. nailed on being let go ? and can’t see the point of loaning him out for a season then releasing him .. because if we go up he no where near championship standard
You told us on another thread he was leaving?
    He has
  • Good luck to the lad,I thought he was a decent player, getting a regular game in league 2 will do him the world of good, and kick start his career.

Good luck to Lucas. There is definitely a player in there and the sell-on clause is a sensible hedge for the club.

Weird one. Thought he still had a part to play.

He was the odd man out with us having 4 right sided centre backs ahead of him in the squad in Mitchell, Mitchell, REG and Jones

I think he had too many players ahead of him in the current back three plus REG, potentially a new LCB (Potts?) and Zach Mitchell.

Although Ness has potential he needs regular game time and Zach is probably the better prospect being younger and with more ability on the ball (we really need to get him on a new deal with only a year to go).

I can see Ness following in the footsteps of the likes of Terrell Thomas and carving out a very decent career in L2/L1 and maybe even getting some Championship positions.

But I don't think that here and now he'd play enough to make progress at Charlton so it's a sensible move.

Could be decent one day but surely has a much lower ceiling than Mitchell. Best of luck Nessie.
