    Think new law is yellow card for kicking ball away. Refs are hamstrung really as not allowed to use judgement.

    We've got a whole match thread moaning about gamesmanship and refs not stamping down on time wasting etc. Michael Oliver has just shown you how refs should deal with it.

    That rule for some reason is only ever in place for one game every weekend. How curious.

    We have a whole thread devoted to how we thought time wasting ruined yesterday's game. It's a booking for kicking the ball away and that cannot be selective. Blame the Ref for enforcing the Laws rather than the idiot who knew exactly what he was trying to do.

    Nobody talking about the city player kicking the ball away earlier in the game either. Shouldn't matter where or when it is or who is involved if on booking already or not, if its an offence every player should be booked every time it happens.

    He was already booked in the 34th minute. The second booking could have been for either but kicking the ball away absolutely condemned him to the showers.

    For once I agree with you, its the easiest card to give out - Just hope Arsenal being down to ten men doesnt ruin what should have been an excellent second half

    We've seen numerous times this season other teams go unpunished for kicking the ball away. Even in this very game.

    Guarentee only one team gets a player sent off for that offense this entire season.

    The speed it all happens, I actually wonder if Trossard heard the whistle

    Difficult as allowing interpretation opens a can of worms, but he kicks it to make a clearance, rather than that pathetic "kick the ball a few yards" approach you see a lot of players doing.

    Regardless of the inconsistency, Trossard is very stupid. Already on a yellow, clatters the player then boots the ball away. He's asking for trouble.

    Personally looking at the replays i think the ref was willing to let the foul go with a warning, but then he boots the ball away as well which gives him no choice.
