Went there earlier this year. The museum is great and Arnhem itself is a lovely place.
  • The BBC have written about two soldiers who took part in Market Garden, who were recently identified and reburied. As it happens two of our friends have attended the service that took part today. Here is the link to the article.
  • Wolfheze the field of the first drop from The Airborne on the 17th Sept 1944
  • The Monument on The Ginkelse Heide to The Airborne.
  • Ginkelse Heide yesterday.Saturday 21 Sept

  • The Red Devils Oosterbeek yesterday.

  • Very impressed. You were in the enclosed area in Oosterbeek.
    As always very moving weekend.
  • Recent couple of episodes from Dan Snow’s History Hit podcast covers Market Garden and has Al Murray guesting as he has written a book out titled Arnhem Black Tuesday
  • Very impressed. You were in the enclosed area in Oosterbeek.
    As always very moving weekend.
No we was outside the perimeter, but got a good spot. The standing ovation to the KOSB Soldier when he walk down to lay a wreath was very moving. There can't be many survivors left. I couldn't post it on here as the file was too big.

  • In the field just beyond the church the white line went to the Rhine.
80 years ago tonight 25/26 Sept 1944 the final withdrawal across the Rhine on this spot.

The people of Oosterbeek and Arnhem still remember Operation Market Garden and the soldiers who fell and those that survived.
  • Never Forget.

@Lewis Coaches - thanks for the photos. There was a very good article in the Daily Express about a week ago about the commemorative walk in Oosterbeek. And of course we were only there in June on our trip. It’s testament to the people of the Arnhem region that they still honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice to this very day. It’s in their DNA and I’m sure it will continue for many years to come.
  • Didn’t realize that an article about the annual walk in Oosterbeek was in the papers recently.
Have two friends that have walked that event for the last 58years. The stories thay tell are so interesting.
One of my friends grandfather even hid troops in his house and later went to The Elizabeth Hospital in Arnhem to help a high ranking officer escape from the Nazis.
  • Couple of photos from this years walk.

Wouldn’t mind going back one year and doing the walk myself (well, with the missus). Did you think at all about joining us in Arnhem back in June @Lewis Coaches? Bit late now I know …….
