    Would he have made a difference yesterday had he been up front for us? The way we just lumped it forward suggests not, but at least we would have known that we had the potential to score, which didnt really exist until Aneke came on.

    Probably... we played like that all year last year and he got 23 goals

    At  his age with the career he's had I don't think it's unfair to say he didn't go there purely for football reasons.

    A second consecutive team that has decided his goals don't outweigh the rest of his game. It's interesting because you'd never accuse Alfie of being lazy or not trying to contribute to the team. I think the problem is ultimately Alfie plays the way Alfie plays and he isn't particularly interested in changing, which means if you want a striker with a different profile Alfie won't become that for you. Dykes is there to hold the ball up and play in Stansfield because he's the golden £20m striker and Alfie will be there for goals in games that need them or if Stansfield gets injured. Sucks for Alfie but at least they're paying him to be there.

    He could end up not playing again for the rest of the season and there's still a chance he still ends up with more goals than Ahedme.

    Came on second half. Bham won 3-2. Still, I don’t think he expected to go there and spend most of the game on the bench. Odd one.

    On all available evidence I can't agree that's an accurate description of what has happened to May at Brum.

    They brought in another striker, who's similar in style to May, but is far better and who's fee smashed L1 records.

    Should Stansfield pick up an injury then May would be playing.

    It is fucking ridiculous thar a team can afford to buy the highest goalscorer in the league and not play him. Football has been fucked for a while but its infected the whole pyramid.

    We didn't need to sell him, personality clashed and here we are. Should have benches him like brum amd had the option of bringing on one of the best strikers in the league. Even if it was money we should have kept him until January.

    You're missing out the fact he apparently wanted to go north because of his Mrs.  Pretty sure benching him wouldn't have helped to situation

    Tough, play the contract you signed and if you don't want to extend next summer go on a free, promotion is worth more than that mil. Might aswell Just have 1 yr rolling contracts all round, ridiculous situation we've ended up in.

    No but if the new manager doesnt appear to rate you despite you at one stage having more goals than Haarland , that might affect the career-family equation in your head.

    They did buy a striker for 10m+ so i'm sure that May nor anybody else expected that.

    In fairness quite a lot of Birmingham fans were commenting on twitter that he should be starting. But it's a long season and i'm sure he'll get his fair share of starts.

    Officials from the club have been quoted as saying the club wanted him out. 
    The club are at fault here and not May.

    Just shows the levels. Our best player, and who would still be our best player, has been bought by them just because they can. We should have held out for more.

    People mock the Birgmingham situation, and Wrexhams. But I'd love to have owners like either of them, especially Birmingham. Proper ambitious owners. I don't know anything about ours, except Methven who is the biggest mouth piece who wasn't even meant to be originally.

    Complete worlds apart.

    I really don't care where the owners are from as long as they aren't scumbags. Any owner, that wants to see Charlton progress, and is willing to spend money doing so, is who I want at Charlton.

    We will be left behind otherwise. We can't carry on like this in the current climate of football. 

    In an ideal world, I agree, the way football is now isn't ideal, but I want to watch my team do well, if that means some rich bloke cash funds it, so be it. Better to be that than watch Steveange be a better footballing side.
