Inniss didn't have a cult following. He had the majority of the site calling him a caveman psychopath liability and blaming him for every goal we conceded, and a small but vocal gang of basically just me observing that he may also have some positive personal and professional qualities too
Any other history revisionism we going to do today ? Motown was founded in Dublin ? Bulgaria won the battle of Hastings ? Cliff Richard led the British to victory at Agincourt ?

The vast majority of people here would say he was liability due to his temperament and his inability to concentrate for a full 90s mins (both of which are evidentially true in my opinion), and it wasnt just you, there was a small number of people who clearly had connections to him and would complain that fans had a negative opinion of him as a footballer and would counteract every instance of criticism with "YoU WouLDNt SaY THAt to HiS FAce tHo" or make excuses for him to blame others.

As for him as an individual, I don't know him but know people that do and by all accounts he is a very nice chap and he did a lot for the community stuff whilst here, I wish him no ill will and im glad to see this season is going well for him so far. I wish him all the best.

    😳
  • I'm not ITK re May's personal circumstance but work regularly with confidentiality law and NDA's, I am 100% certain that May hasnt signed an NDA nor would it even be enforceable in this situation.

Ahadme, Stevens ? if you question everything why only things that suit your agenda ? what has Leaburn been up to the last year ? Why did Parker leave ? etc
I wasn’t typing anything to suit an “agenda” I was merely throwing a few examples Big Rob’s way as it was him I was replying too, not you, hence the Stevens and Ahadme reference.

You clearly have your opinion on the subject and I bow to your superior knowledge of NDA’s

However there is no call to be sarcastic with the Leaburn and Parker comments so wind your neck in!

Yeah to be right, i was being a bit of a dick. Apologies, have a great day

You have never apologised to me :'(
  • MORE THAN ONE THING CAN BE TRUE AT THE SAME TIME!

Nathan Jones wasn't keen on May, for reasons that we can suspect, but not know for certain.
This is clear to anyone that saw May dropped/left out and also being subbed.

May would obviously be unhappy if the manager didn't "fancy him" and he wasn't pretty certain of starting.

May's wife was also unhappy living in Kent and wanted to return north to live closer to her parents/family in Doncaster.

Huddersfield came in for him - bingo.

Charlton/Nathan Jones can receive @£650K to help rebuild the squad.
Alfie can move north with a happy wife, which will also make him happy.
A big pay rise will also make them both even more happy, one would assume.
Plus Huddersfield were top 3 favourites.

Then Brum came in and offered Charlton more and May considerably more.
May takes a massive life changing pay rise and May and his wife will have to suck up whatever the arrangements they have for him getting to Brum daily.

    The end.
Yes I don't think this is disputed but I absolutely do not believe that if Jones loved him and played him every game last season that Alfie stays, I think he would go to Brum anyway.

He quite likely would have, because if any player including May suggest that they will no longer give their best, then a football club may well feel that they have little option other than to sell.
(I'm not suggesting May did say he would "down tools").

If Jones loved him then Alfie would have been offered a new contract PDQ in Feb because both he and Methven know that strikers are the most sought- after assets in the window, and they'd already lost Dobbo because (whoever) took their eye off the ball in the autumn.

But we can not afford what Birmingham offered and we can match the non-financial qualities Brum offered to him and his family, he would of wanted to go anyway
  • I think we let him go “cheap” because Nathan/Charlton needed the fee quickly for the rebuild.

Getting less than £1M for someone who has scored 20+ goals for rubbish teams in your division across each of the last three seasons, including winning the golden boot in the most recent, is a pretty bad deal.
    This with bells on!

I didn’t know Motown was found in Dublin, you really do learn something new, every day!

getting nearly £1m for someone 30+ who has never played in the division above isn’t “cheap”. It seems it because of what they paid for Stansfield but they paid £1m for Dykes who has spent years in the Championship and plays for Scotland. We got a decent deal when you consider that May will likely fall off a cliff at some point in the next 2 years due to his age
The alleged 750k is not nearly a million quid.

A decent deal will be answered in the future when we can see what Godden and Ahadme do for us.

Been reported with add ons it would reach £1m though.

You can sell an asset for decent value and then piss it all up the wall, you still had a decent deal

  • No goal for Alfie again this evening.

1 goal in 7 in all comps.

And Northern Soul came from Bexleyheath. Fact.

Because it's not true. He has a fantastic touch, can play off both feet, is clever with his movement and timing of runs and is an intelligent enough footballer to have been deployed wide right, wide left and in the 10 under multiple managers. He's not Macauley Bonne.
I think fantastic touch is pushing it .

This revisionism is getting absolutely ridiculous. He is an excellent striker at this level and we’re the worse off for him no longer being at our club,
Exactly this. His goals have been the difference in 5 league games this season, which have got Birmingham an extra 9 points already and we're only in October.

Similarly, the flip side is making it sound like we just sold the League One Messi.

An excellent league one goal scoring poacher for sure, all the other stuff yeah, not so sure.
  • My frustration refarding Alfie based on what I saw last season is when things may not be going right and he isn't getting goals it feels like he is chasing them too hard, a bit like a headless chicken at times. Of course his desire for goals is probably the reason he gets so many so it is something you just have to accept.
