We are far too friendly and welcoming as a football club. Borders on submissive. Is part of the problem that's seen us get turned over year after year.
A welcoming place for all visitors including away teams. Nonsense that does us absolutely no favours and probably helps the oppo.
I am pleased for Wrexham having watching the doc and think good for them as a working class town as the club has really given them as sense of identity and pride....but when it comes to matchday fuck them.
Rolling out the carpet as if it's a long lost relative, jesus wept.
It's naff and is a stupid gimmick, but can you give other examples of us being too nice and how that affects us winning games. Massive overreaction.
Looking at the fixtures tomorrow we are the only game in London except for Brentford. So plenty of overseas tourists will add to the numbers.
Bromley at home too but they aren’t huge on the tourist list. Although there was a great video of some Portuguese/Spanish tourists singing about Michael Cheek a few weeks ago
This will be our biggest selling home league attendance in 10 years (where we haven’t just given 5000 tickets away.)
Why shouldn’t the club try to monetise whatever they can from it and ALSO try to pick up a few new fans from the 10000 new faces who will be there.
so there are more emails flying about but there’s also been a big marketing campaign aimed at the younger generation that some of us probably haven’t seen. Whatever they are doing is working.
The way ffp now works means we can’t just get cash injections from a wealthy owner. We have to be self sustaining and can only spend a percentage of our revenue so anything that increases revenue is good in my book. This is football nowadays

This just isn't true in L1, SCMP rules allow it.
There's a big difference between a marketing push to sell tickets (good in my eyes) and printing and attempting to profit off another teams badge (bad).

You really are badly out of touch with our fanbase, this is a massive faux pas

End of season with nothing to play for. Generated an extra £15k I believe.

The biggest issue for me is us being in League One. If the scarves make money then they are a good idea. We shouldn't be too precious about things like this.

Really? I can’t agree.
They are pushing the one game that will make money.
I just can't get bothered by a few scarves. It's a bit sad and I would rather that we didn't have them but so what. They will probably sell to the tourists that go and will never go again and will all be forgotten about. Wrexham fans can take the piss if they want, yet, despite their current massiveness they can't sell out their away end. These extra 10,000 fans are here for the Hollywood not here for the Wrexham or the Charlton. Its all a bit weird to me as a traditional fan but it's the way the world is going and taking as much money as you can off transient tourists is what everyone does everywhere.
Club sponsor hugely out of touch with fanbase. Shock.
You could argue, fan base out of touch with club too. Reading half these posts youd think we are a double hard pwopper nawty unit of a team with militant fans.
... rather than the family friendly, award winning community club who people aspired to be for a decade or 2.
Unfortunately for some, B mob and the 80s were over a long time ago.
When was the last time we had a massive club come to the valley? You'd think Man City were turning up for a kick around. Seriously we should be looking at points deducted for those scarves.

And we did that by selling the benefits of the club, not by selling us of the back of other clubs brands.

Was agreeing with every bit of this until the last paragraph which is exactly what you can do in L1 to get around the rules and what Ipswich and Birmingham both did.

That’s the top and bottom really.
No one is being harmed by it in by any way.
No one is being harmed I agree.
But the vast majority of fans find the whole thing hugely embarrassing.

So weve ruined our legacy by stocking half and half scarfs ?

I just hope we smash them out of sight tomorrow and don't roll over to have our belly tickled
So i have been speaking to some of my sources close to the club and I really didnt want to post this as i may burn bridges with some of my "confidential" informants but I can't keep quiet any more as im very much ITK.
I've heard that our AMERICAN (remember that, its important) consortium owners is actually a proxy group controlled by a Canadian Investment group where a certain AMERICAN based actor called Ryan Reynolds is a significant investor.
There is a plan in place tomorrow that if we are winning 1-0 Charlie Methven will walk out the tunnel in the 90th minute and tell the referee to stop the match and when the referee isnt looking he will hit Will Mannion with a steel chair in front of the covered end to allow Dobbo and O'Connell to score thus turning heel in the process and we will all have to call him Mr Methven in future.
Then he will explain his actions before the Peterborough match and explain he didnt screw Charlton, Charlton screwed Charlton. He will then introduce Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcheleny as our new owners and his bosses, who will confirm we have changed names and our now known as Wrexham B.

I can't understand anyone not wanting to see the Valley full. I want us to stay there long term and having it half empty doesn't help.
Our owners won't make any money in L1 and know that our league standing limits our appeal, so to maximize attendances and revenues, targeted marketing and pricing initiatives are necessary, with success not guaranteed.
During Roland's reign, it's been argued that fans deliberately depriving the the Club of money proved him wrong and forced him to go, but the tone of many posts I see leads me to believe that the same mentality lingers on, partly understandably so given our succession of crap owners since.
Personally I think it's early to be starving the current ones of money, but I realise patience is beginning to wear thin. I'd be more critical of this lot for not looking for exploit the opportunity to cash in on this year's big show coming to town though. Sad to say it, but it's probably a one off opportunity as Wrexham seem destined to pass us on their merry way up through the leagues.
Now where did I put my Charlton/Inter Milan beanie!
