Why bother unless everything else is sold ?
Why bother selling a 50/50 scarf then when I presume we stock a few 100% CAFC ones that are still for sale.

Anyone had a sneak preview of the bumper special £15  A4 match day commemorative programme yet? 👀 Just guessing.
Please tell me this is a wind up haha

Good effort, but must try harder
  • Scarf thing is obviously poor, but can't see anything wrong with the £5 pint deal.
Might like to read my post on the Fans' Bar thread......or maybe not.
  • Skim reading through cause this thread is tragic, but, are we at the stage of calling the owners penniless, the SMT a bunch of chancers and its all Andy Scotts fault yet?

If we are losing 8 million a year, how much difference is an extra 3k or so going to make for the sake of our pride.

If you think it isn't a lot of people, take a look at the replies in this thread:

And thats just one of many on social media. Now I know people may not care how we are perceived by other clubs and the general footballing world, but I bloody do. I'm a proud Charlton supporter, and I bleed a lot of time and money for this club, I don't want this type of gimmick to be how our club is viewed.

I can barely accept us being a league1 team. Rolling out the red carpet to a team who were let's have it right, irrelevant, only 5 or so years ago is sickening.

Meant to be the pride of the South and we are bending over backwards for Wrexham and some £s. Shameful.

They'll sing 'you're only here for the Wrexham' at the weekend, and because of the clubs antics, it's the first time there's gonna be a bit of truth behind it.

The lack of pride has me scratching my head. If we went to any ground in the world, and they were selling half and half scarves and talking up a game this much, we'd be giving them pelters, and rightly so. Absolute commercial, gimmicky bollocks.

For the sake of your mental health, please don’t get too wound up. The circus will be moved on after the weekend and everyone will have forgotten about it - that’s the way the modern world of social media works.

If even a few hundred local newcomers enjoy themselves and decide they want to come back for another game then I will take that as a massive positive out of the day.

I imagine there will be plenty of American day trippers tomorrow hoping to catch a glimpse of the TV personalities but they might just catch the Charlton bug and if they come away from the game thinking Charlton is their new team, that would be brilliant.

Half and half scarves in the official club shop is a big own goal.
  • How have we gone from being embarrassed about half and half scarves against the mighty Wrexham to booting peoples heads in back in the 80s 🤣

I wouldn't bet against it, but I don't gamble. I meant my pricing point to look exorbitant, but I'm well out of touch with the going rate these days.

Being struck down with that is a nasty business and there's no known cure.
  • Looking forward to Jones doing the ceremonial roll of the red carpet from the tunnel for the Wrexham ownership, before they take their place on the golden thrones in the newly build 3rd dugout.

Hear we're renaming the Covered End the 'It's Always Sunny in Charlton' stand in remembrance of the big occasion tomorrow.

Incorrect. I pointedly said ‘wider’ social media.
  • I’ve seen the way you dress . Half and Half scarfs are far less embarrassing 😂
    Sadly you are correct 🫣
  • 4000 newbies tomorrow

    Get in the hole
  • You cannot possibly be defending this.

Club is a laughing stock (check twitter for evidence) for what might at best bring the club a couple of grand in revenue.
I’m not defending half and half scarves I laughed at them.  I’m attacking the reaction to the half and half scarves, it’s not like they got “free Palestine” or “heil hitler” on them.  It’s a product aimed at kids and nerds, who cares enough to be “embarrassed”?  Not me.

And please, twitter?  You can’t seriously use that platform as a source of evidence, its a cesspool of teenagers trying to look hard in front of their mates.
  • What are the odds on seeing people dressed as Deadpool or Wolverine in the home end tomorrow? Quite high I would expect

Jim Davidson had a similar run at the Montague Arms back in the day
  • All this talk of Americans flocking to the game to see the Canadian superstar Ryan Reynolds 😂
  • Charlton Athletic announced today that sales for tomorrow's home match against Wrexham are already at 23,200 and are expected to exceed 24,000 by kick-off.

This would constitute the club's largest home full paying attendance since the play-off semi-final in 2019, and the highest such Charlton regular season home gate of the last decade. Wrexham have sold 2,500 of their 3,100 allocation, meaning that upwards of 22,000 spectators will be in The Valley's home ends.

West Stand Lower has sold out and there are only 200 seats remaining in the Covered End, so the club has now made the last remaining blocks in the Alan Curbishley Stand and West Stand Upper available. Those tickets will still be available on the day, from Charlton's Ticket Office in the West Stand.

Over 4,000 of the crowd will be first-time visitors from the South East London and Kent area, together with 1,000 visitors from foreign countries.

Charlton CEO Charlie Methven said: "We are delighted with the attendance and looking forward to seeing what a packed-out Valley delivers in terms of atmosphere. The intention of our 'Welcome to London' campaign was precisely to encourage new local audiences to come and sample what Charlton has to offer, so it's gratifying for our marketing team to see so many local first-time attendees. It's important to note, though, that the sheer number of 'first-timers' will bring with it a few operational challenges. We would encourage all fans to arrive as early as possible."
