  • I have heard of Wolverines, as when I lived in California (mid 70’s), I learned they were the Michigan State University American Football team.
    Deadpool….not a clue and don’t really care either. 🫤
  • Roll on 5pm Saturday, when we finally kick Wrexham all the way back to Wales pointless…
  • Can we have a thread up tomorrow where people can post pictures of those who purchased the 50/50. An enable anyone on here to privately confess that they are now the proud owner of the Wrexham 50/50.

We can the carry this on for a few more days slagging the off.

Leaving aside the claim that 4,000 people from SE London and Kent attending are previously not on the database (which necessarily contains large assumptions), how many previously unknown people purchasing how many tickets come from outside that area in the UK? Shouldn’t be any more difficult to estimate.

What are the odds on seeing people dressed as Deadpool or Wolverine in the home end tomorrow? Quite high I would expect
Who or what are Deadpool and Wolverine? Serious question.
Another one who lives under a rock . I don’t for one minute believe you’ve never heard of these.
Maybe there are more than you think...don't assume everyone is as genned up as you appear to be...
There is absolutely nobody in this country who hasn’t heard of Deadpool or Wolverine or at least one of them ,  even if they aren’t into films . That’s unless they’ve been in a coma .
    genuinely never heard of Deadpool
Likewise. I have heard of Wolverine.

I don’t know why the fans are getting so uptight about this. We all know how interesting people are over Wrexham because of the Disney and Ryan Reynolds. It’s not ideal but the club can take advantage of it so it will make people buy these.

I’m dreading seeing full of plastics around me but at the same time it’s good source of income for the club and the fans need to realise this!
It's pretty much always packed out near us, so we won't have many first time fans around us.

I know nothing about any of these characters and or about Wrexham’s owners, any more than I do about Stockport’s or Crawley’s. I have seen Charlton play  at the Racecourse Ground, however. We lost, of course.

Assumed you’re North going by your Username so you have an advantage. I sit West Upper and there’s loads of empty seats around me.

With their permission I presume! If anyone's thinking of randomly snapping kids wearing souvenir scarfs from their first ever match, I hope others will snap them as they're the ones who deserve to be shamed and ridiculed. Saddos. That's the sort of behaviour that really would tarnish the Clubs reputation.

Yes Upper Covered End in the middle.
It will seem really strange for you having more than 50 people in your block.
  • This is surely the thread of the year?
It's quite amazing even by CL standards.

Is that anything to do with you? Just a question.

  • Let everyone enjoy their day, should be a great atmosphere and we can see how our cash rich ex-players will adapt to the atmosphere along with some of ours. Could be we see the ex Luton lads earn their keep with a 5* performance & have their shooting boots on!

This will be our biggest selling home league attendance in 10 years (where we haven’t just given 5000 tickets away.)

Why shouldn’t the club try to monetise whatever they can from it and ALSO try to pick up a few new fans from the 10000 new faces who will be there.

so there are more emails flying about but there’s also been a big marketing campaign aimed at the younger generation that some of us probably haven’t seen.  Whatever they are doing is working.

The way ffp now works means we can’t just get cash injections from a wealthy owner.  We have to be self sustaining and can only spend a percentage of our revenue so anything that increases revenue is good in my book.  This is football nowadays

    See Birmingham City
Charlie Methven more or less said they're a phenomenon because of their deals and attendances etc. We can't compete with them.

I still don't understand why we can't be second to them though and be a mini super league one team of sorts. The transfer window never made much sense to me, and as the season goes on, it looks even more ridiculous that we didn't buff up a fairly depleted squad.

I know this is a bit off topic, but just because of how the club have approached this game, it concerns me they don't have the financial muscle that they've claimed, and are underestimating the league like Sandgaard did, and even he had more of a go at it than these lot with his money.
In response to your second paragraph part of the reason is we don’t get fans in the ground, we’re capitalising on that this weekend. Sure they won’t all come back but some will. The more full the ground is the better sponsorships we can get etc. Ultimately the main driver will always be performance though
That still doesn't make much sense. Birmingham City have been getting attendances of 25k plus, we are around the 12-13k mark, they spent over 30 million, so why couldn't we spend between 5-10 million as an example?

Some people say you can bend the rules with cash injections and writing it off, others say you can't. It just isn't very clear how it all works.

This would be a flawed system if it were the case. As teams would never have a chance to progress if they were limited to how much they could spend based on their gates.

It all just seems too convenient for them. They can't/won't buy the Valley because it's too expensive right now, and have a fair deal on the lease. This is restricting them to improve the Valley and in turn the match day experience they keep harping on about, but then they don't want to improve how the Valley looks, as then the asking price would be more (their words).

So what's their plan? Try and get promoted with a bit of luck, aka on the cheap. Something is off.
I basically agree, if they really wanted they could invest more. It's just different strategies, we're trying to be run as a more standard business and Birmingham are taking a punt that their spending will be evened out with increased other income coming forward.

Agree with the ground ownership too although I doubt RD is stopping them doing much development, sounds like the lease is basically just for the use of the land and we can do pretty much what we want from it. Happy to be corrected though.
Here's the thing though mate, they can't. As a poster on here asked them this question (sorry can't remember who) and Methven deflected it and tried to have a cheap dig at the users math skills. Apparently we were tapped out and had no wiggle room in the transfer market.

RD isn't stopping them at all. It's just when someone asked what their plans were to improve stuff, they essentially said, as we don't own it, we don't want to improve it.

If you're a billionaire, with a genuine passion for this club, and see it as a long term project, you'd buy it all up immediately, especially if it was hindering development plans you have in mind.

Reynolds and McElhenney have spent around 25 million combined (potentially more) out of their pockets with half of our owners net worth.

I don't understand their vision. Cynic in me says these are gone within 2 years.
    That was me.
Andy Scott did similar when he couldn't answer the question about his recruitment.
Yeah it's a classic politician technique. Don't worry mate, I imagine most people saw through it for what it was. He tried to make you the joke of the room to deflect a question.

It's why I was quite stern when I spoke cause I wasn't happy with how he spoke to you for a pretty valid question. Of course your laughters around the room then become 'tuts' for me. 😂
  • Deadpool - no. I do play a MMO game on-line and one of my alliance members is called Wolverine, I kind of guessed it was after some form of superhero but that's the extent of my knowledge. earlier this year I made the mistake of watching a superhero movie called Black Adam. It was truly appalling and I didn't plan to watch another. But I understand The Penguin drives a Maser, so I might give that a watch.
  • One of the Welsh words for microwave is "Popty ping" .

  • So let me get this straight, CAST are expected to be against the club bringing in extra revenue via scarves 😂 some of you have lost the plot here.
You cannot possibly be defending this.

Club is a laughing stock (check twitter for evidence) for what might at best bring the club a couple of grand in revenue.
I’m not defending half and half scarves I laughed at them.  I’m attacking the reaction to the half and half scarves, it’s not like they got “free Palestine” or “heil hitler” on them.  It’s a product aimed at kids and nerds, who cares enough to be “embarrassed”?  Not me.

And please, twitter?  You can’t seriously use that platform as a source of evidence, its a cesspool of teenagers trying to look hard in front of their mates.
You think Free Palestine and Heil Hitler are equivalent?
    No.

They were the first two off the tongue political debates in my head.  Let’s not eh.
  • A stonker of a CL thread.  It's got it all and everyone should be bloody sick of it by the time Tinsel Town fucks off back to Wrexham. Let's face it, we are all culpable...  SO a round of applause!
  • good to see that Addicks are coming from all over, even some from behind the settee to see what the 'Wrexham Thing' is really about .. The Red Dragons and the owners are absolutely proving the point that there is no such thing as bad publicity .. According to 'Clive', we have a bad record against them, and have not played them since 1982 !! .. that's because we are usually well above them in the 'pyramid' .. the time now is to put them right back in their proper place, i.e. well below us
