  • Look I know we have got a few injuries but that was total and absolute crap.

We can't pass, we can't hold the ball or win it when it goes loose.

Being totally and utterly outplayed by a bang average Exeter team.

In Jones we trust? Not for much longer.
  • Watching Euell,Jensen,Robinson etc at half time, brings a tear to the eye seeing how far we've fallen

One shot on target for both teams. Exciting it is not
  • What on earth does A Campbell bring to the party. Dreadful control, no pace, no fight, no awareness. Docherty not much better either.

You don't get much for a tenner these days, but I'm thinking of asking from my money back here as there is zero "entertainment" on show.

Another completely turgid mess of a game.

Awful half where we just stopped doing the good things. We win the ball then immediately give it away again, time after time... Nothing up front and Campbell not in the game. Ahadme and Berry have to feature soon just to get some impetus. Great support and a lovely ground is all the positives so far....

I’m beginning to think football is broken. The Euros was a load of dogshit and they were supposed to be internationals. Players don’t know how to play any more.

Thought Docherty was the most involved I'd seen him for the first 15 minutes, then disappeared again. Campbell just runs around slowly. At least we are experts at slicing it out of play.

That might have been the worst 45 minutes of the season so far. The hope was, after our fortunate start to the season, that we’d build on that and see the performances improve but, the Birmingham blip aside, we’ve been getting worse week on week.

It’s a really really worrying trend. IMO, you find out how good a manager is if that can turn a slide around. Curbs did it multiple times. Powell did it with the aid of a transfer window. Lennie could do it. Parky did it to an extent but had to drop down a division first so not sure that counts. Most of the rest we’ve had in my lifetime were incapable of it. I’m not convinced NJ knows how to fix this, and he’s had his summer window, albeit not backed quite like Powell was, and has used it to make some things worse.

i am reluctantly coming to the conclusion that this year’s Charlton team simply might not be good enough to move out of mid table mediocrity.
In fairness, they did say we have 9 players out injured at the moment. It would be interesting to know how close we have been to having Jones’s first choice 11 on the pitch at any point this season?

This is down to poor squad building over the summer again. I can't see this being turned around.

Apparently Charlton are going to turn up in the 2nd half probably just a rumour though.
Sadly, it'll probably be at The Valley.

Just logging in to see how everyone enjoyed 45 minutes of throw in simulator 2024?

Stick Edun and Berry on for Campbell and Docherty please.

THey dont exactly contribute so might as well try a bit of pace and goal scoring ability at the top of that midfield (which, really, come on, we should be doing anyway)

Utter shit. Can't pass the ball to a yellow shirt, Exeter are being given as much time as they want on the ball, the press is non existent, midfield may as well not be there - we might as well play with 10 men with Campbell out there.

Unfortunately I look at the bench and don't see much to change it. Perhaps Berry, perhaps Ahadme to give some mobility up front. No doubt Jones will wait till we are 2-0 down and then bring on the firecracker that is Danny Hylton.

I was excited when we brought Jones in as the manager, but I am rapidly losing faith. Said it already but we are regressing imo. If we were boring our way to wins week after week I still wouldn't like it, but playing this poorly week in week out is ridiculous. I just don't see a game plan or any positive progress.

The players look flat and disinterested and that is a real worry.

How many times are we going to have persist with the same boring performances every Tues/Sat? When did we last win a game without extra time against a non-league side? I get lol’d for wanting our club to be successful, seems far too many are comfortable with this shit

It is very difficult to understand how this group of players who after all are full time professionals can’t string more than 2 passes together without giving the ball away ! A Sunday league team would have a higher completed pass rate than us in that half

He never discovered his first choice 11, mainly because all the midfield he can choose from is pretty mediocre.

Team without any pace and flair plays as you’d expect.

We use a 4-2-2-2, once used by Brazil, a formation where full backs have space to bomb forward and you can play a couple of creative 10s… we use it to fit in as many ball winning midfielders as possible.

Boring to watch. It’s supposed to set us up so we always compete, but with the lack of possession and attacking threats we arguably put ourselves under just as much pressure we would had we played an attacking midfielder or two, and played a bit more football.

It’s not the style many would expect from the team with apparently the 4th biggest budget. How many times have we scored in the first half this season?

Exter don't concede many goals at home. It was always going to be a turgid match with few clear opportunities.

Our squad lacks both quality and depth. Jones insists on playing two DMs, plus one of either Docherty or A Campbell. We still concede a lot of goals despite having so many defensive type players on the pitch.
We can all see it isn’t going to get us out of the league. Why not try something else? Play the diamond, try some kids, anything else, just have the courage to be creative.

If he’d had Dixon on the bench we could’ve chucked him and Small on as wingers and changed shape, and introduced some width, pace, and trickery.

What we’ll get is Berry and Hylton.

I refuse to believe Luton were this bad to watch under Jones. If this is a genuine tactical set up to absorb this much pressure and pinch a win, surely they were better than this?
They probably were in his first 6-12 months in charge. By the time we saw them in League 1 he’d already been in charge for a couple more years.

It’s difficult to watch at the moment but for as much as we’ve looked poor on the ball, we’ve also been difficult to break down ourselves. Hopefully this is short term pain for long term gain.

We look forward like look disjointed which is expected given players missing.. But think second half we should switch back to 352 as I said earlier with Godden playing behind front two

I think Alex Mitchell has just picked up the world title after his efforts that last half.
