I don’t think he gets in any of our good teams in league one - which aren’t many , granted , but certainly not the 18/19 team and not the 11/12 team .  But yes , he’s better than anyone else we have now .

The remaining 5 are Exeter (4), Northampton (3), Cambridge (4), Burton (4) and Shrewsbury (3) 

It is far too close to say with confidence that we won't get relegated. Our form is woeful, and every team above us are in good from except for 3 of them. 

Leyton Orient and Rotherham are both well on course for leapfrogging us, from what I saw of Crawley, there's every chance they could overtake us. That leaves around 7 teams that we need to make sure we outperform to avoid relegation again. 

Burton have a new manager, Shrewsbury appointed an experienced manager in this league, Bristol Rovers and Northampton both need new managers. These are teams that could benefit from new manager bounces.

I genuinely think at this stage now, it's more likely we get relegated than it was last season.

I'll also be fair and say I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. Either way, it's absolutely horrendous it's even a talking point again.

Ah, in that case I don't think anyone has a clue but all this talk of a million is just rubbish. Heavily weighted with add-on payments is my guess, small upfront fee.

You might be right, but I feel like this view of his transfer fee is based on how poor he's been, and the idea that we couldn't possibly have spent good money on someone so bad. I personally can't find any solace in that belief. I think it's very possible we did actually pay good money. And the fact we gave him a 4-year contract says a lot about the value we placed on him.  

The original source of the €1m fee was a whole sentence from Dharmesh on skysports transfer centre live, which said "deal worth".

Everywhere else, including the Ipswich journos just quoted that.

I doubt we paid anything close to a million up front. Regardless of his performances and ability.

Or maybe it's a bit like Naby Sarr wages where after every poor performance he was on 8-12k a week and needed binning  and every good performance was on 4-6k and worth keeping.

Didn't realise Nathan Jones watched the Northampton game? Sort of implies Appleton was gone before a ball was kicked in that game then.

It would be quite ironic if Jones final nail in his coffin would be a loss to Northampton
