the rumour we paid a mill for Coventry, turned out it was nowt, hence my question, how much did we pay for Ahadme. We need proper investment in the team to get out of this shite League...
However much we paid, it was too much.
Hi Chunes!
Even you don’t think he’s worth a million
No, but 'whatever we paid it was too much' is ridiculous for one of the few who looks like a competent footballer
I was talking about Ahadme.
Ah, sorry, oops! Terrible reading comprehension. You're let off...this time

Ah, in that case I don't think anyone has a clue but all this talk of a million is just rubbish. Heavily weighted with add-on payments is my guess, small upfront fee.
I'd not be surpised if the upfront payment was way below 500k.

I don’t think he gets in any of our good teams in league one - which aren’t many , granted , but certainly not the 18/19 team and not the 11/12 team . But yes , he’s better than anyone else we have now .
It would be negligence of the highest order if NJ didnt have a minimum performance red line of top six. We are way short, even after kicking off with three straight wins, recent form dire, supporters even STs staying away.
Nine games until window shuts, do we give him that leeway? Or do we wait until play-offs are mathematically impossible? I hope the SMT are discussing these dilemnas.

Window hasn’t even opened yet and you’re already counting down to it shutting!

Jan 2026 window will be shut before we know it, better get planning now for whoever our manager will be in 2 managers time
We’re playing the worst football the valley has ever seen, have only managed to beat bottom placed Burton (who had 10 men) in the last 8 league games & are on track to repeat our ‘lowest finish for 98 years’ record but the owners do not see any immediate concern??
I think Gavin Carter’s new role suggests they have concerns but expect they don’t want to keep sacking managers. We’d likely end up with an appointment part way through the transfer window which isn’t ideal.
Unless there is a dramatic turnaround in our fortunes very soon, I will be amazed if Methven, Rodwell and Scott are still at Charlton come the start of next season.
At last, it looks like you're coming around to the fact we are in trouble.
If by trouble you mean treading water in League One, I know.
If by trouble you mean relegation, you’ve been saying that the last three years…
In the last 12 game form table we are firmly in the relegation zone. It took two changes of management to get us out of this position last season.

We won’t get relegated this season.
Out of the 10 teams below us, 5 have earned more points than us in the last 5 games (5pts), Rotherham (12) Leyton Orient (13), Bristol Rovers (6), Crawley (7) and Wigan (6)
The remaining 5 are Exeter (4), Northampton (3), Cambridge (4), Burton (4) and Shrewsbury (3)
It is far too close to say with confidence that we won't get relegated. Our form is woeful, and every team above us are in good from except for 3 of them.
Leyton Orient and Rotherham are both well on course for leapfrogging us, from what I saw of Crawley, there's every chance they could overtake us. That leaves around 7 teams that we need to make sure we outperform to avoid relegation again.
Burton have a new manager, Shrewsbury appointed an experienced manager in this league, Bristol Rovers and Northampton both need new managers. These are teams that could benefit from new manager bounces.
I genuinely think at this stage now, it's more likely we get relegated than it was last season.
I'll also be fair and say I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did. Either way, it's absolutely horrendous it's even a talking point again.

You might be right, but I feel like this view of his transfer fee is based on how poor he's been, and the idea that we couldn't possibly have spent good money on someone so bad. I personally can't find any solace in that belief. I think it's very possible we did actually pay good money. And the fact we gave him a 4-year contract says a lot about the value we placed on him.

Could make some decent money at 33/1 if you're that confident that we're worse off than last season when I think it went as low as 8/1..?

No I'm assessing the nine games while a manager can sign players to affect our awful season. I don't think NJ is capable.
Keep him onboard until we are below last seasons (16th?) or get shot.
No idea who could be better, but hard to see who could be worse given his ego

I think Burton and Shrewsbury will go down quite easily, thus making things better for us.
We won’t go down, but that’s frankly neither here nor there. The only goal this football club has is promotion out of this division. The fact that another season is going by without any semblance of that being achieved is outrageous.

Everywhere else, including the Ipswich journos just quoted that.
I doubt we paid anything close to a million up front. Regardless of his performances and ability.
Or maybe it's a bit like Naby Sarr wages where after every poor performance he was on 8-12k a week and needed binning and every good performance was on 4-6k and worth keeping.
Sell on, International appearances (thank god he didn't get on), promotion, games played, doubt we paid more than a nominal fee. He could challenge me on this, but I think he would pass it backwards

Didn't realise Nathan Jones watched the Northampton game? Sort of implies Appleton was gone before a ball was kicked in that game then.
It would be quite ironic if Jones final nail in his coffin would be a loss to Northampton
Quite possibly that was the case, but also likely that Jones would have watched back the video of at least the last few games when he took over to see what he was working with
the rumour we paid a mill for Coventry, turned out it was nowt, hence my question, how much did we pay for Ahadme. We need proper investment in the team to get out of this shite League...
You’ll never know for sure how much we’ve paid for an individual player. “player trading” is reported in our annual accounts but I think that’s a net sum (I.e all transfer fees received minus all transfer fees paid in the reporting period). People who tell you with certainty how much we paid for a player are 99% of the time either making it up or regurgitating information that someone else made up.
Salaries are reported in the annual accounts too, but this is on a whole company basis rather than player by player. So you can surmise from our latest accounts that we have one of the highest wage budgets in the division, but you can’t figure exactly how much we’re overpaying each of these wastes of space.
Yes you can and I have been told previously what we have paid for certain players...

He'd have only been at the game if he was ready to take over surely, that was my point

Curbs was really well paid, even though it was ages ago . You could hover on Floyd road and pay someone 25k a year to do what Jones offers
