Honestly it was beyond the misunderstanding of football, it was just on a human level the abuse was unacceptable.

Hard to disagree with this but I have two caveats. I wonder how hard it would be for him if the Wales job came knocking ? I wonder if ourselves and Cardiff are in The Championship next season and their job comes up.

Although I posted the above I don’t see him jumping ship for Cardiff any time soon because I think they are some years away from being a stable club. I suspect that when his time is up at Charlton and I also think that’s a long way off that Cardiff could be where he’ll eventually manage. I’m sure he’d like that. Doubt Tan and Jones would hit it off.

Just spent a few minutes on a Sheff Utd forum mainly to see if I could find comments about Bindon. (I couldn’t). What I did see was a thread about “Wilder out” which looked remarkably like this thread when Jones was coming in for a lot of criticism. Big split in thoughts on him and the main complaint seems to be turgid, defensive football. Sound familiar ? There’s also the defence that he’s got a poor hand to play and changing him now wouldn’t make any sense. No money to spend and reliant on frees and loans. Personally I think Wilder is a pragmatic manager and will know exactly what to do enough to keep SU out of real trouble. On the other hand I think they’ll be closer to the bottom than top. Definitely if that big points deduction is forthcoming.

Nathan was a lower league Footballer but as a coach and then a Manager he has always believed in his self and been ambitious. 

As I'm sure you know Rado, NJ was sacked by Stoke and Southampton and the only club he seemed to leave on a couple of occasions when manager without being sacked was Luton !

I used to have some days off in the week to watch CAFC  U21's at Sparrows lane in the year NJ was the coach before his ambition took him off to Brighton. Jones played a hybrid 4-3-3 but the full backs did charge forward in Holmes-Dennis and Barnes.

Can you imagine the dogs abuse Nathan would get at a club like West ham every time they don't win especially if they are a 2nd tier club.

It would be great if Jones could stay to 2030 and the Charlton owners can help to establish Cafc as a progressive club on and off the field.

We don't need to be Greg Rutherford; "A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step."

At long last we are going forward, on and off the field.

On both those occasions, he was moving to a higher league to be fair.

No high profile club will touch Nathan Jones with a bargepole and it’s massively to our benefit. All other clubs fans hate him and wouldn’t let him anywhere near their club. 

Which is great because what a bloody brilliant manager he is for Charlton.

I think that’s the key point isn’t it. We’re moving forward as a club both on and off the pitch. CAFC was hollowed out for years by a succession of let’s just say poor owners to the point that there was a very good chance that the club would get relegated into the fourth tier or worse. New ownership started the long haul of reversing those terrible years and the catalyst for our playing revival really began with Nathan Jones. Not even his fiercest critic and there are still some could put forward a case that the team is not now in a better position than when he took control. As Jones himself would say, this is a journey and it’s not complete yet. Despite our current lofty position I still think we’re now looking like a mid table Championship club. That’s yet again progress from last seasons relegation scrap. I’d suggest the next stage of our progress is maybe three or four years of consolidation and then if financially possible to kick on. The playoffs being extended to include eighth place is a godsend for a manager like Jones as he’ll no doubt see that as an opportunity to accelerate our progress more quickly. Jones isn’t perfect but at present he’s perfect for us.

Remember at Millwall in January, the bloke next to me was giving Jones all types of verbals to the people around us. 

I don’t get it, but each to their own. Was thinking that if you dislike Jones, I would love to hear the person opinion on Michael Appleton.

I remember what it was like directly before Jones took over and so cannot criticise him whatsoever. Jones clearly knows what he’s doing, so just try and enjoy the journey.

Jones is an emotional chap which I love those dark days of Appleton speaking and obviously not giving a shit had me crying out for someone who cared it would be very wrong to moan now we have someone that does. Mind you if he was managing a competitor he would not be popular with me lol

I agree with your wider point but i'm not sure you can blame anyone for being absolutely fuming at getting thumped 4-0, a defeat which was at the time our 9th in 14 league games.

He'd probably calmed down by the week after when we won at Leicester.

Personally wouldnt be suprised if he sits it out a couple seasons and gets it England job if/when Tuchel goes
