Nathan Jones was first off the pitch at the end, he’s clearly not happy with the fans digging him out for previous performances. Does he not understand the nature of this game?

Nothing better than a clean sheet win
  • First time we’ve won an away game in December in six years. That season, we got promoted at Wembley.

Only four points from the play-offs, a promotion surge looms.
  • Pretty incredible result, obviously. What’s even more incredible though is how we’re still only 4 points off the play-offs. How the hell is that even possible?

3 points away from home and 5 (that's FIVE) goals away from home!!

Great way to sign off for Christmas.

Think everyone played well, even most of the subs made some form of impact. TC and Leaburn have potential to be a great partnership up top as they just understand each other. Small did well playing on the right and the other 4 defenders were solid, Mitchell even looked good going forward. Special mentions to Berry and Docherty who ran their socks off and showed some real glimpses of quality. I know Northampton were poor but if we play like that I think we can beat 90% of this league

Had tickets for the game but had to return due to me being ill all week. But as people who know me it’s why we won coz I wasn’t there as my away record in the last few years is shocking. So apologies in advance for the Crawley game. Much needed win today. COYR

    Great performance. Unbelievable in fact.

We KNOW our players have underperformed so far this season and that performance proves it.

Now to kick on and finish the rest of the season strongly. We know the league is pony, we just need to add some attacking intent and consistency.

It looks like he may have stumbled across a team and shape that actually suits us. Thank heavens for the sickness bug!

First time we've scored five goals in the League since Sept 2022, when we beat Plymouth 5-1 - First time we've scored five goals (or more) away from home since we visited Plymouth and won 6-0 in April 2021.

Bit of a gap between 5th and 6th is why, but frankly who cares.
  • A happy Christmas (football wise) for a change. Here’s hoping it’s a happy New Year too.
  • That's more like it
    Same again vs Cambridge, please!

Fantastic performance in which everyone played their part. Maynard-Brewer look assured with the very little he had to do. The back three looked solid. Small got forward well, though the real danger came from Campbell who looked unplayable at times. Berry looked more assured on the ball than usual, Leaburn was really up for it whilst Docherty had his best game for us putting in a really decent captain's performance.

Despite recognising that Jones needs to use the whole squad, it did look like the substitutions might kill the game (One word of critique, Adheme what was that?). No though, we still managed two more goals after the subs.

Great result which was thoroughly deserved. If they keep playing like that I'll be well happy. They've proved they can do it. Need to keep to that standard now.

How did you make that jump?

Another explanation: he knows it’s not been good enough lately so it wouldn’t be appropriate to try and involve himself in the celebrations.

If he tried enjoying it on the pitch, you’d see people digging him out for giving it back to the fans.
I would have expected him to applaud the fans for making the trip that’s all. Good for him for being a humble man.

At the match. Didn't want to go but good performance. Thierry and Coventry excellent. Amazing what an early goal or two does for confidence. My nightmare before Christmas became a miracle. Hylton scoring another one.
Let's hope a turning point and a push for the play-offs.

Why clearly, are you a relative?
  • Can I say I’m disappointed that they didn’t win 6-0 on my 60th birthday?
Does that make me only 50?
    Happy Roundy Birthday Geezer 🍻🍻🍻🍻🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
  • Ok so Northampton are not good but have to give a nod to Berry and Docherty today.
Given time and space they showed their quality so let's hope they can continue that against Wycombe.
Interesting that Small and Campbell didn't swap over at any point. Thought they might after an hour just to give the Northampton defenders a different challenge. Still, 3 goals before half time, who would have thought. Must give the whole squad a massive confidence boost.
  • Gillesphey's best game for us. Normally Eaves bullies our centre halves, but today, Jones and Gillesphey had him in their pocket. Width with Small and Campbell made such a difference. Midfield today played much better, passing to each other, but Northampton gave us so much space! However we have played poor teams before and have struggled. A nice early Christmas present!!

Best result in the entire Football League today. Nice Christmas present!
  • Hope Nathan keeps a simple broadcast, says nothing derogatory about the fan base and just credit the players for the shift they put in today!

He can save his energy for the training ground, and concentrate on winning the next one!

Very, very pleased with the result, have a wonderful Xmas everyone on CL🍻
