Well I did get to catch up with a school mate I haven't seen for a few years before the "match" with lunch and a couple of beers, so I had a good day anyway 😜
Still had the ten minute walk from my sister's to the ground to get wet through before they binned it though, which was nice 😄1 -

Well didnt get to watch Charlton today, but Stockport vs Birmingham finished 1-1 and was a very enjoyable game to have on instead!! - Would always rather the points on the board, but win our two games in hand on 6th / 7rh and we could be on level points with P64

Had issues with Sky Now so watched Swindon V Colchester on a main sky channel. Jack Payne scored two pens to put the Essex team 2-1 up but impressive Swindon town came back to win 3-2 with a 97th minute pen to claim 3 vital points with the last kick of the match.

I set off at 1:30pm and thought it would get called off, but foolishly continued the drive thinking better to be safe than sorry.
Ref should have called it off 4 hours earlier to give people a chance, absolutely dreadful decision.
Have to say as well, in all my years driving, that's been the worst conditions I've driven in I can remember.
I saw the aftermath of one accident, I think I saw traffic cause of a local-ish one, and was nearly part of one where another driver was driving erratically which caused a car near me to slightly swerve.
I genuinely can't stand people who drive like twats in these conditions. You save seconds to at best minutes and it's so risky.
I never normally do it but I actually had a go at one driver today. Felt a bit bad afterwards but it winds me up how people don't consider others in their cars or the cars they're driving near.
It's something ridiculous like a 30% increase of a car fatality in even light rain and people swerve and undercut in torrential rains.
75% of weather conditions related accidents occur cause of rain, and 45% + happen during rainfall.
Sorry for the rant but I couldn't believe some of the state of the driving I saw today, winds me right up. Just added to my anger with the postponement10 -

Drove 9 of us down in the minibus , nephew , mates son and boffins mate plus us 6.
they were all eating footy filth, pizza , chips , chicken burger etc outside and I can’t risk that with my guts and football/public filth toilets so I went in the ground early .
dont care what Nathan Jones said I know what I saw 13.50 ish their ground force team were sweeping loads and loads of surface water away from near the far penalty area , 14.05 ref and assistants come out , the ball is stopping and not bouncing properly in certain areas and at this point in time is when the game should have been called off .
The ref conversed with ground staff and they stopped their sweeping . At this point with the ref stopping them I just expected it’s going to be called off , to give it another half hour was ridiculous , the rain was well set and forecast was for plenty more and we were that close to kick off , nothing was going to change and make it playable (yes in years gone by it would have been considered easily good enough to play but with todays woke society that’s not possible )
it was the right decision to call it off but should have been earlier .
anyway the rearranged fixture clashes with me washing my hair so I can’t make it .
1hr 20 mins back to Epping not to be sniffed at , too many Cadbury’s mini eggs on the journey home and I’m on the khazi now easing them out

I do sound like a right old miserable git, it's just specifically in these conditions I don't think enough people realise how dangerous it is.
If you're on a nice open country road and no one is about, it is what it is, but on packed roads, in appalling conditions, I just don't get it. Hopefully it wasn't a Charlton fan I've had a go at, but it came from a place of concern, I hate seeing road accidents.

You're right, 25 minutes wouldn't of made much difference in the grand scheme as most would be in or around the ground by then my point was that the 2.15 walk just looked like a visual inspection which the ref then gave the nod for the players to come out. To then call it off with 20 mins to go just seems a bit odd. Was there enough of a down pour to waterlogg part of the pitch in the 25 mins? Or was that part of the pitch already waterlogged hence should of called it at 2.15pm and saved some supporters leaving the pub!Bailey said:

and all the rubberneckers trying to get a good look at whatever accident had happened , drive past it rather than trickle and we can all get on our merry way.2 -

Part of me was glad it was called off. The Crawley weirdos I was stood next to and started talking to me like I was one of them I’m not sure I would have lasted the game to be fair.10
