I really don't get it when people say something like I've paid my money so I can have my say ( eg laying into the likes of fox and Francis) .Laying into someone in their workplace,in theory someone you ought to support and encourage ,just wouldn't be allowed in a different environment.5

Unlike Charlton fans to have a scapegoat…7

Embarassing to hear the stick some players have had to endure. Not sure what the logic is?
Morgan Fox had to hear plenry of abuse....8 -
I've never got why some fans constantly dig out certain players.
People like Spongefoot Church seemed to get away with murder whereas Francis was lynched pretty much from day one. Churchy ALWAYS looked crap in my opinion whereas Francis had such a good delivery but we rarely saw it because he got vilified from day one and his confidence disappeared.
I see the same thing on social media when someone comes up with an opinion on a player and then loads of others just jump on that bandwagon and spout the exact same shit. Do they not realise players read it? their family read it? It definitely affects them.
Pleased for Francis because he was harshly treated here but has gone on to do fabulously well - who knows. maybe his experience at Charlton made him what he is!

Looked back at squad then. Nathan Ecclestone, remember him? Only made 86 appearances in his career and 21 of those were for us on loan from Liverpool. I thought he was decent, shows what I know!0

Just remember Ecclestone being very very quick. Don't recall him scoring many though.3

Off the top of my head:
Shef Wednesday away in FA Cup
Huddersfield away in FA Cup
Doncaster at home (flood replay)
Blackburn away in League
I've recalled 4 within 20 seconds. This is rattled me. 5 cannot be correct.0 -

Did he score away at Cardiff???0

I remember years ago Kevin Lisbie being a target.
Myself and @LenGlover being pretty much the only posters on here to back him, week in, week out.
What would we give to have a striker capable of scoring a hatrick against Liverpool these days!

Six-a-bag-of-nuts said:From memory he really struggled defensively as a RB with us, the fans lost patience and got on his back and destroyed his confidence.
He probably had some muppet playing in front of him and didn't get forward much. My memory fails.
At Bournemouth he had licence to get forward, was dynamite as a wing back and a great crosser of the ball.
Once he got his confidence back and knew he was loved and trusted he excelled, even as a centre back and captain.
A salutary lesson I think0 -
His first game for us, I can't recall v who, he put in an absolute pinpoint cross for Alan McCormack (a k a Oxo) to head his one and only goal for us (was it also Oxo's debut ?)
What we'd give today for one who could cross that like.
Oxo was another who was slated and hated by 'the fans'. He went on to have a pretty decent career over the next ten years, especially at Brentford
Also remember Francis leaving the team bus somewhere in the far west I recall, and going home as his Mrs was in labour. I got pelters on here for saying that the game and the team should always come before watching the Mrs struggle through giving birth1 - Sponsored links:
