It was never a red, so in this case their whining was justified!
I disagree still, as dont like the studs up challenge... I equally thought that the Wolves challenge should have been a straight red, and should have been the bigger complaint
But then Football is largely about opinions, and always will be when the majority of rules have so many grey areas in them.
I still feel it was a shocking challenge with no intent to get the ball. Hopefully the Arsenal players are being shown this week in training how to trip up opponents with the toe of their boots and not their studs down the ankle.
totteringham fans finally see that Levy is THE problem in N17. One trophy in 24 years under his rule says it all.
they have been saying that for years to be fair
I certainly have but its always been a divisive fan base when it comes to Levy. Not so now, he is getting everyones ire. Not that it will make one blind bit of difference. At the end of the day, he holds 25% of shares in ENIC. 65-70% is held by the Joe Lewis family trust, the remaining shares are minor investors. He isn't going to walk away while they make massive money. Even yesterday, the bars in the ground were still full 30 mins after full time.
No one can doubt that Levy's business acumen is second to none on the commercial front. He just doesn't know how to run the footballing side.
This isn't much of a surprise though really as let's be honest, who wants to go for a drink anywhere else in Tottenham?
I agree Levy isn't going to walk away though, as why would he? And whilst i totally understand why he gets stick, he could argue that he does spend money. Spurs spent almost 150m since the summer on Solanke, Gray, Odobert, Bergvall and Kinsky. The problem is not the money spent but who it was spent on. For example why buy Odobert who is a winger when you have Son, Johnson, Kulusevski and Moore? When really you needed back up at LB and CB.
Last season you spent over 200m, so that's over 350m spent in 2 seasons (although you did get 100 back for Kane). Spurs have the 3rd highest net spend in the last 5 years, more than Arsenal, City and Liverpool.
The big fuck up that i think Levy made was not giving Poch money to strengthen when Spurs were really good, competing at the top of the league and got to the CL final. I know the stadium had to be paid for but i think you went 2-3 transfer windows without making a proper first team signing.
Yep, pretty much agree with all of that, apart from the bit on wingers...
That was the one thing we was sure on - the ITK all said Ange wanted two different kind of wingers on both sides. We were linked with Neto and Eze all summer. We know Spurs asked Palace about Eze several times but they refused to budge from his release clause and wanted all the money paid up front and Levy wasn't prepared to do it. Neto agreed personal terms and fee was agreed then Chelsea came in and offered him double his wages. When Eze and Neto fell through, Odobert turned up. To be fair he looked bright in his first two games then he's been injured ever since.
Guess the plan was to use Son, Odobert and Richarlison on the left and then Kulusevski and Johnson on the right. God knows where Werner fitted into the thinking. Mikey Moore was only ever going to be introduced slowly and given some games in the League Cup and Europa. That hasn't worked out given how many have been missing through injury.
But absolutely dead right about the gaping holes at CB and LB. Was the same last season. Its absolutely criminal there has been no cover, especially at CB. We lost both Romero and vdV last season and ended up with Davies playing there with Dier. Davies is not and never will be a CB. To be fair, he can't even play LB now either due to the lack of pace.
Net spend is one thing but more telling is the wages to turnover ratio...
We just dont pay top wages to attract the top players. I'm not talking Man City wages or possibly Chelsea/Man Utd wages but we need to be competitive. Its the same as any workplace. And lets be honest, since these figures were up-to-date, the wage bill has been trimmed yet further still. The big earners were Kane and Perisic. Son is now our top earner on £190k per week. I did see a breakdown of all the main salary earners at big clubs a couple of weeks ago but cant find it now, I've been trying to find it again. I can't remember what the top bracket was, but even West Ham had more players in that top bracket that Spurs did.
Villa might have seen it as worth selling him to cash in now as he's 29 and his value will drop soon, plus it lets Duran play more, but then I see Duran might be off to Saudi.
What a waste of a very very promising career. Will be interesting to see if Villa bring in a replacement or use the bulk of that money on fixing their CB issues

I understand they'd agreed a deal for Juan Foyth yesterday. Argentine ex-Spurs, played CB under Poch but was moved on to Villareal where he linked up with Unai Emery but he mainly played RB as far as I'm aware.

Villa through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, and you choose to go to Saudi. Baffling.

Foyth would be a solid signing in their position. Better than the rumour they're interested in Disasi from Chelsea. Can't help but assume they've got a striker lined up to at least back Watkins up.
It would be ludicrous for Duran to move to Saudi at this stage of his career
I tend to agree but then again he's really young, can go there and earn in 3 years what it would take him 10 years to earn at Villa and then come back to Europe and he'd still only be 24.
Stories around that Villa have rejected a £60m bid from Arsenal for Ollie Watkins!
I could be wrong but to me it seems like a move to appease their fans - "look we really tried to buy a striker".
When the whole world knows you need a striker why wait 29 days into the window and then bid for a striker at a club who've just that same day accepted a bid for their other striker. Villa were never accepting that in a million years.
Also don't get why you'd bid 60m for 29 year old Watkins, when you could get 21 year old Duran for 65m. At the same time i don't get why Villa would rather keep 29 year old Watkins and sell 21 year old Duran.
Only way this goes anywhere i feel is if Watkins really pushes for the move and puts in a transfer request. But if Villa sense this could happen then why sell Duran?

He'll be very very good for them.
Spurs would be Son, Werner, Solanke, Romero, Kulusevski at a guess.

He'll get better by playing with better players in Europe; not by playing in a crappy league with no fans or coverage.
Do all the work...
Agree a fee with Bayern...
Oh hello Mr Tel, the 5 year contract Mr Levy is offering is £25,000 per week and a packet of polos...
Arsenal or Chelsea to hijack in 3...2...1....
maybe he just wants the silly amount of money he will probably be paid compared to being a bit part player at Villa
And still there is no new left back or centre back signing.........
vdV is back tonight by the looks of it.
