These continuous grass fires are a joke and very amateurish. Shows a complete lack of forethought.
Race could be chaos tomorrow if they keep needing an SC to deal with them
There's rain forecast overnight and throughout the morning, so they might get away with it. That would be more a case of luck than judgement though, as it's not like all the grass turned brown in the last couple of days.
Shock to see Verstappen get that pole! But I think he set the car up more for qualy than the race - and will try and defend from the front, but I think his low downforce at the rear will let the Mclarens in on the bendy bits in the race which Jacques Villeneuve alluded to in commentary (thought he gave some good insights into the cars from his experience).
As annoying as he is, you can't deny he's a fantastic racing driver, and I reckon if you put them all in identical machinery he'd be the one that would wring the most pace out of it

Got to admit, I agree with this.
I can’t stand the spoilt little bastard or his obnoxious wankstain of a dad, but he’s one hell of a racing driver.
Nothing much happened other than a brief flurry of interest lasting nano-seconds when red bull pitted a second longer than norris and he nearly came out in front.
Would have been a total waste of an hour and a half this morning but i had work that needed doing so at least something happened.
Was a bit of a stupid moment from Norris... Not sure why he didnt just slip under Max's rear wing and follow him out of the pits - His trip on the grass (a very expensive lawnmower as Max just said), basically helped give Verstappen the gap
Glad I didn't bother getting up for the 6am start. Absolute borefest. Another circuit outgrown by these cars, vunless you get bad weather. The drivers might love driving Suzuka and Monaco but they don't produce exciting races.
For someone that's paid a lot of money to watch F1, and for someone that has held that position for so long, Crofty really does spout some shit doesn't he? Particularly stood out today when he's not got Brundle alongside him

He has been getting on my nerves for ages. He made so many wrong calls today, mixing up drivers and making statements like he knows what he's talking about, when he clearly doesn't. Did he really have to keep saying "Jacques Villeneuve" every time he wanted his input? He doesn't do that with Brundle.

He’s crap. Consistently gets the drivers names wrong, has rubbish opinions and doesn’t like it when someone contradicts him. Think Harry Benjamin will take over within the next few years
Wouldn't be surprised if Crofty stands to wind down either. They've already got Harry Benjamin ready to go as the replacement, I suspect he's doing a few rounds this year that Crofty doesn't fancy. Jacques Villeneuve I'm not convinced by as a pundit either , yes he's very honest and forthright with his views but he comes across as someone that wants to make sure people know he thinks he's the smartest man in the room.
Wonder if Doohan's injury isn't helping things... He clearly struggled to get out of the car after Sunday, and needed Ocon's help, even Bearman spoke about how he was going to feel the effects of that race in the coming days, so must be worse for Jack after the crash.
Going to be unfortunate if he's solely out because of injury. As wont see him getting back in the seat if that's just the case either.

Which there's no room for as that's Crofty's job!
Crofty and Nico Rosberg is probably the worst for that actually. But Jacques definitely has that similar style.

I struggled with Benjamin last year... Found him a bit too flat, and the constant banging on about Imola being a track where your guaranteed a 100% chance of a Safety Car was just... Yeah... Hopefully it'll boil down to experience with him, and he'll show signs of improvement when he steps in on occasion this season too.
Villeneuve surprised me with brief glimpses of his ability in the Commentary booth, he was on it, the moment that Russell f**ked his lap (on two occasions) during his last Quali run impressed me... But needs to do that more.

As much of a procession as you’ll get in F1.
I always defend against this by pointing out that there’s entertainment to be found in the midfield, but today you couldn’t even say that.
