Scrappy but we won which is all that matters. Subs were the right choices at the right time. Although Chuks looks lumbering his close control was very handy and went unnoticed. Was a huge amount of abuse towards him at one point which was way OTT. McIntyre bounced back well and Gillesphey seemed to not put a foot wrong.
One gripe, the KO for the second half should have been delayed by 10 mins. There was a medical incident in our end with paramedics needing to get involved but ref and linesman didn’t seem to care. Was too far away from me to see what happened but from the reaction of the fans it seemed pretty serious. Not that it’s mega important but it definitely had an impact on our fans too, couldn’t get a chant going for ages11 -

I blame the kit. Just play in yellow. Or black 🙂10

awful pitch and the ball was way over pumped3

Sounded a grim bit of football on the match thread so commiserations to everyone who paid to watch that.
Still, only one more win needed to guarantee the play-offs.0 -
Difficult to believe Mbeck is 18. So strong and mobile. It looks as if he is going to be some player.25

McIntyre man of the match for me. Thought he won everything. Fair play to Karoy when he came on too. Did well

Scrappy game, but a good win. We were the better team throughout. Created the better chances, had more shots on target and didn't really look in serious danger.
Not sure why some people seem to have a bit of a downer on the performance. Sometimes you just have to win ugly.8 - Sponsored links:

If only Jones had not screwed up last week we would be right in the mix. Still extremely angry about it...as you can tell.

After the physical battering and occasional thuggery meted out by Cambridge, they only had 1 player booked.
We had 5 booked!

Dirty win against a physical team, was good to see morrison still playing with a smile on his face.11

Small didn’t touch the ball with his foot until the 40th minute0

Today is a classic example of why we need to climb out of this division. Sometimes you have to mix it with some really rudimentary teams that see being over physical as a legitimate tactic or experts at diving and wasting time like Lincoln last week. We had to get down and graft and that’s never a pretty sight. We did. We beat them at their place, virtually cemented our playoff place and kept another clean sheet. Terrific stuff.8

Mbick did well when he came on, used his (massive) frame really well. Was really sweet when Doc and Coventry pushed him towards the fans to do the fist pumps and he had no idea what was going on. There’s clearly a great spirit in the squad37

Hope the fan taken ill is ok17

I'm quite enjoying this, instead of being shite we are actually quite good. I also expect us to win a majority of the time. Cheers NJ.8 -

A painful watch, where the result is everything.
I didn't think we were that good today, as Cambridge did create a number of shooting opportunities, but fluffed them. A better team would have scored from one of them.
A great atmosphere though, the best away atmosphere I've experienced this season.0 -
As others have mentioned, we’re all but officially in the playoffs as it would take something of titanic proportions to miss out. For me, it’s about using the next 4 games to pick up a bit of momentum
it would be great to have the home leg as the second game, but it’s not the be all and end all. If you’re good enough to go up, you’re good enough.
4 games and a point behind Stockport means there will be plenty of twists and turns, especially if we can get a win at Wycombe.
Nathan Jones deserves a lot of credit for how he’s turned it around. Let’s get behind them as best we can over the next 6
(maybe 7) games7 -
Don't matter how you win them. Just please get us out of this poxy league this season 🙏12

The knee into Tyreece's thigh was deliberate, and the ref missed it. He was roughed up all game as Harris must have instructed his players to take him out. He limped through the rest of the game, scoring a goal, so fair play to the lad, he stayed on the field for as long as he could. Deadlegs are something you can't run off, Surprised he didn't come off at HT.21

Pleased for McIntyre. He'd looked good every time he came on, was MOTM on his full debut replacing Lloyd and then made a mistake the following week. He was hooked for it and could have sunk into oblivion but Jones put him straight back in and he's been rewarded with another strong performance. He's an exceptional man manager. Other than that this was just another end of season Powell-style 1-0 win. It's such a regret that we didn't get going until December as these sort of results should be the ones securing our place in 2nd not probably being a little short of reaching it. Never mind, it's another away win, 2 more points gained on Wrexham and 3 points gained on 7th. Just one more win will secure the Playoffs and anything after that is a bonus, so let's get that against Northampton and take any pressure off ahead of the really big away games.23

That was a tough watch, but it’s all about points at this stage. Small and Berry both seemed to have a tough time getting in to the game, but we did enough.I know it was a brief appearance, but Mbick looks a proper handful - I know he was a prolific scorer in the development leagues before his injury. I wonder if Chuks was looking at his replacement.I do have a bit of a concern with Mannion. Most of his play is good, but he seems to be hesitant when the ball is played long over the defender. A couple of times I’ve seen him caught in no mans land - not out enough to play the ball, but out too far for the defender to be able to comfortably pass back to him. I’m sure that can be coached out of him, but not this late in the season.5

Another 1-0 victory against another one of these grotty, dirty L1 sides - absolutely no shock that Garry Monk couldn't get anything out of these players who would rather kick other players than the ball. Their lovely current manager chose that style today and I'm sure they'll have lots of fun playing that way in L2 next season.
Obviously, the one of our players with quality made the difference, despite being kicked all game. TC will sadly need to get used to this going forward and learn from his yellow card - I don't blame the reaction at all, but as people know more about him, these thug defenders will just do it more. I think the higher up the leagues he goes with us (or sadly, probably with another team in the CHA/PL), he'll see a little less of that. Hoping that the dead leg isn't any more than that. He's so important for us in both creating and now putting away chances.
I'm a little concerned that our performances are now not quite as comfortable as earlier in our run, but really proud that some players can come in and perform. Starting to think that the most likely outcome now is probably 5th - Stockport keep grinding out results. The benefit of 4th would have been nice, but I'm not sure they will drop any points now. All of our last 3 are relatively tricky now. I'm not looking forward to playing them if we get them in the semis, but all bets are off once you hit the playoffs.
Once we are confirmed as in the playoffs 100%, it's going to be really tricky to manage the fitness and the momentum. Keeping players fit is going to be more and more important.5 -

Just keep winning games Charlton. Don't be tempted to rest players now our play off place is all but secured. I'm sure we all thought Wycombe would beat Shrewsbury and Wrexham would win at Wigan. You never know what might happen.5
