Your argument doesn't stand up on this though. Jones could bring on another striker but chooses to bring on Chuks. Now that isn't saying Chuks is brilliant but it is saying that in the eyes of Jones he is our best option in the current circumstances and can do a job. What is the point of being so negative towards the player? Especially when you don't seem to take a smidgeon of disagreement well yourself. Chuks is beyond lazy now, it's actually a bit of a liberty at this point. I'd rather Mbick be on the pitch ahead of him, Chuks has lost everything about him that made him as impactful as he was, and with this run of games being so important there should be no room for sentiment.
He literally passed the ball off the pitch for a throw in yesterday under next to no pressure, and let a ball go straight by him all because it looked like he couldn't be bothered. Cause I sure as shit know he ain't daft.
I'm sorry but it's taking the piss. 8 grand a week or whatever it is, should warrant far more. Hopefully after this season it's the last we see of players soaking up wages and having little impact on our team.

Perhaps Chuks is doing the job asked if him by the manager?He has many years of experience, and is capable of getting us up the pitch and keeping us there, even yesterday we dropped too deep sometimes. Yes he has lost alot of pace, but he plays for the team doesn't stop trying and is a piece of the jigsaw NJ seems to prefer.I appreciate NJ's judgement, Chuks would also be ahead of Ahadme for me, not just because defenders hate his physical presence and late in a game they must look over and think 'FFS' when he comes on. Mbick did the running, Chuks used his control and experience to help us keep possession.Appreciate unlikely to be with us next year, but support him if he can help get us up a league12

Steve Brown was quite perceptive re Chuks yesterday - that he always battles the defender rather than looking for space which Godden does so well.I’m still a fan of Chuks and would love him to get us a crucial goal before we wish him on his way.16

Chuks isn't lazy, he's just at incredible risk of pulling a muscle if he's not careful. He doesn't close players down anymore because it's a risk he doesn't need to take. He doesn't even really sprint. It's not ideal but he is good at backing into defenders and winning the ball with his back to goal so he doesn't have to jump and when he does get his foot on the ball and turn he's very good at playing others in. We're much more likely to get an assist than a goal out of Chuks at this point but he's clever in tight areas which has led to 2 assists in his last 3 games. He's actually joint 2nd in assists for us in the league this season with 4, one behind Berry and level with Edwards and Gilbert (but without taking any corners). The monster striker Chuks bulldozing through people and smashing a goal in is gone but in his place there's a clever advanced pivot point who creates chances for others18

Chuks can be effective, but he needs another mobile striker alongside him. Stockley (especially after his back injury) was similar, a good physical presence but too static to play the lone striker role.0

I don't find you ridiculous, I find the comment of having faith in a manager ridiculous. How do I not have faith, 5 and a half hour round trips for home games, similar for aways, I've non-stop praised him since the turnaround. I don't see how that's not having faith? I genuinely think we have the best manager in the league despite his hands being tied.
Back to my original point, I think Chuks the individual was poor, I've explained why (lack of pace, fitness, technique and impact) that's all there is to it.
If that gives off the view Iack faith in our manager or I'm being negative, so be it, it's a post match views thread.2 -

I post blunt, I reply blunt. Remember the 7-38-55 rule of communication when reading texts. 60-70% of communication is decided by body language, tone of voice, facial expressions. You can't determine much over how I post on a footballing forum.
As an example, I've got the shits today so I've been squeezing one out most of the time I've posted today, that's about the only stress I've felt while on here or felt anything of a personal nature.
What's the alternative? I don't reply and ignore all posts that are different to my view? Wouldn't be much point in posting on here in the first place. It's a shame if it comes across that way that I'm on the edge, cause if you speak to me in person, I'd like to think I'm quite approachable.
I'm all good other than this dodgy stomach mate. Been on a sugar detox so I'll blame the sudden sugar intake over the weekend.2 -

Brilliant day out yesterday. Had a great pub crawl round a lovely town, the sun was shining, brilliant support, a proper old school away end (side), a battling performance against a rough and ready team, a fantastic goal, 3 points and the opportunity to give Harris some stick! One of the best away days I think I've ever had! COYA
Edit. Only downside was my phone flying out of my pocket after TC's goal and smashing on the terrace. And having to spend an hour in car phone warehouse this afternoon organising a replacement. Tyreece, if you're reading this it cost me £13.99 in fees, if you want to cover that for me?!11 -

Well I guess a 1-0 win is a 1-0 win, they all worked their socks off for it and a nice goal from TC too. Like Phantom would like to shout out for Tennai who played well and won a lot in the air....... and boy was the ball in the air a lot yesterday!
Also well done to McIntyre who kind of came back from the dead yesterday and did a good job...... and to Karoy too who looked much better this week in a more familiar role.
Our seats were quite close to the Charlton dugout and it was interesting to watch NJ and CF during the game. Constantly coaching and advising all game long......... good to see the players were looking to them for it too. The 2 standouts for me were once from NJ to Mannion who should really have come out for the ball to get Macca out of a tricky situation........ I can't remember the exact words but it was pretty much 'get out and f'ing claim it!!' Second one was to Doc I think..... after TC shoved the guy and got booked....... NJ was shouting to Doc....... 'coach him, go and coach him'......... the last thing we needed was for TC to get a red. Good management all game long from the guys.17 -
Certainly not a great game, but a good goal and an away win in glorious sunshine. The ref had no alternative but to book Campbell for his retaliation but how the Cambridge player involved wasn’t cautioned for his elbowing, tripping and shirt grabbing is beyond understanding.

I think Chuks is almost a victim of how good he used to be. People expect him to come on and transform a game like he used to, if you look objectively at his contributions then he’s still been useful this season. In fact there’s probably only been a couple of games this season where the score has got worse after his arrival onto the pitch but there’s been plenty where we’ve seen out wins or scored late winners with him on8 -

I think he relishes the challenge of battling with them, and sees it as important part of his game. Perhaps one of the reasons NJ persists with bringing him on. Battling with Chuks while tired must be awful.0 -

I could understand if during a general pub quiz I shouted at random about Chuks work rates, but on a Charlton message board, I'm not so sure to be honest.
I mentioned the assists cause they don't really justify all the other bad, it's not like he's laser focused passing or skinning two people and putting it on a plate. A deflected shot someone got on the end of and a sideways pass.
But now of course as there has been so much discussion around it, it looks like I have an agenda.
I just want to say I'm the same person that 2 years ago said that Chuks at his best can play any level of football because of his physicality. I will always say it how I see it. I've been no stranger to compliment Chuks when he's been at it. He's just a shadow of his former self now.
